Systematic is a Danish software company founded in 1985 and headquartered in Aarhus. It develops mission-critical software for defence command systems, healthcare and libraries. The company works with armed forces and hospitals across Europe and North America.

Test Manager, Defence

As our new Test Manager, you will play a key role in delivering our SitaWare and Iris suites, an integrated, ultra-modern command-and-control toolset that helps Defence customers make critical decisions wherever they need it. You will apply your broad test and engineering skills in an agile environment with highly skilled colleagues, as part of our growing Defence Services team in Copenhagen.

The job

Our SitaWare and Iris suites give armed forces an integrated, ultra-modern command-and-control toolset spanning radio, mobile, vehicle, web and application-based solutions, with real-time reporting back to command HQ. As our new Test Manager, you will be involved in everything from the start of a feature, writing test cases and managing the process, through to verifying the final testing before we deliver the solution to our Defence customers.

In short, you can look forward to:

  • Planning and conducting acceptance tests (FAT and SAT) with customers, both at our own facilities and at customer sites
  • Conducting integration tests with third-party software and hardware
  • Challenging solution design against risks, based on system context, customer requirements and security
  • Taking part in military exercises to support the use of our solutions and find new ways of testing that reflect real-life use
  • Establishing and maintaining test environments, and contributing to tender and proposal work on test and test management approach

You should expect travel within the Nordics, and potentially elsewhere in Europe, several times a year.

Joining the team

You will join a small but growing team in a brand-new office in the heart of Copenhagen, working closely with your Nordic colleagues while also collaborating with other teams across our global constellations. Testing is an integral part of our development process, and you will be part of a wider community of testers and test managers, with knowledge-network events to exchange ideas, hear lectures, share best practice and get to know your colleagues. It is an agile, fast-moving environment with flexible, trust-based working hours and plenty of room for personal responsibility.

Your qualifications

To succeed in this role, you bring:

  • A technical degree, Bachelor's or Master's
  • Solid experience as a Test Manager or in a similar role, with strong technical skills
  • Experience with test management tools such as TestRail and Jira, including the Xray and R4J plugins
  • Hands-on experience with test execution in close cooperation with stakeholders, and the ability to analyse and communicate technically complex solutions
  • Solid knowledge of Windows and Linux environments, SQL/MS SQL Server, Active Directory, and networking fundamentals (IP, TCP, UDP, multicast, routing, firewalls), along with scripting skills in PowerShell or Bash
  • Fluent Danish and English
  • The ability to understand product requirements and translate these into effective tests

Alongside this, we value:

  • Enjoys working in a changing environment, eager to step outside your comfort zone to make a difference
  • Highly motivated to develop and apply your technical skills in a broad, technical role
  • Enjoys customer-facing activities such as presentations, technical support, training and testing, building the trust that drives customer satisfaction
  • Self-motivated and committed, with a hands-on approach

ISTQB or TMAP certification, automated testing experience, or experience with testing standards such as ISO/IEEE 29119, ISO 25010 or ISO 9001 are an advantage.

Experience with radio networking (e.g. VHF, HF) or tactical communications systems is a strong plus.

Please note that you must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or an EU country for the past seven years as we work with security-classified projects. Read more here.
