Role Summary

T. Rowe Price is advancing a more connected, intelligent, and scalable approach to managing complex business workflows. The Senior Product Owner - Appian Platform Lead serves as the senior product leader for the firm’s Appian-based Global Workflow platform, defining the product vision, establishing the enterprise roadmap, and directing product capacity toward the highest-value business opportunities.

This role provides product leadership across the Appian portfolio and a multi-pod delivery model. The Senior Product Owner manages demand and platform-fit decisions, establishes priorities across shared platform capabilities and applications, resolves cross-product dependencies and trade-offs, and provides direction and coaching to the Product Owners and Product Analysts supporting individual value streams.

Working closely with business sponsors, process owners, Technology, Architecture, Data, Enterprise Risk, and external delivery partners, the role leads the product lifecycle from intake and opportunity shaping through delivery commitment, adoption, value realization, and ongoing optimization. Success requires strategic judgment, disciplined product leadership, and the ability to translate Appian and AI-enabled workflow capabilities into measurable improvements in productivity, cycle time, quality, risk management, and client and associate experience.

Expectations include:

• Platform Strategy. Define the vision, outcomes, and multi-year direction for the Appian-based Global Workflow platform, translating enterprise workflow, automation, AI, and business priorities into a clear platform strategy and product portfolio.
• Enterprise Roadmap & Prioritization. Own the Appian roadmap and prioritize workflow opportunities, determining fit and trade-offs based on strategic value, business impact, risk, dependencies, and capacity.
• Product Team Leadership. Lead, coach, and direct Appian Product Owners and Product Analysts. Set product-management standards, decision rights, planning cadences, artifacts, and quality expectations; ensure each priority has clear goals, stakeholders, backlog, adoption plan, and outcomes.
• Delivery Management. Oversee delivery pods, align work to priorities and capacity, resolve dependencies and escalations, and hold teams accountable for scope, quality, timing, and commitments.
• Platform Management. Own shared Appian capabilities, enhancements, upgrades, and reusable components; partner with Engineering and Architecture to keep the platform scalable, reliable, secure, and sustainable.
• Value Realization & Adoption. Define success measures with business leaders, Finance, and Product Owners; monitor adoption, performance, and value, and recommend changes when outcomes fall short.
• Operational Readiness. Ensure decisions address regulatory, security, privacy, data, records, model risk, accessibility, auditability, continuity, and support needs; confirm readiness before release and go-live decisions.
• Stakeholder Management. Advise senior business and technology leaders, communicate direction, priorities, progress, risks, and decisions, and drive alignment across stakeholders, Appian, and partners.
• AI-Enabled Workflow Innovation. Expand Appian’s value through AI, process intelligence, and emerging workflow capabilities, partnering with teams to evaluate and introduce new capabilities responsibly.

Responsibilities

• Product Vision and Strategy Development -Develops and maintains a clear vision for the product family or enterprise product, including technology, competitive, and internal strategic perspectives. Establishes road map for assigned product(s). Contributes to the technical direction and conducts relevant research to inform enablement strategies. Leverages quantitative and qualitative research to establish and communicate the product and product family vision as well as the overall design and delivery strategy.
• Achieves Business Results for Product Family or Enterprise Product -Through leadership of a crossfunctional team, which could include marketing, technology, design, and other business unit subject matter experts, ensures products meet and/or exceed standards for business performance, client satisfaction, compliance, and operational efficiency by closely monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting the metrics to assess the performance of products against key performance indicators (such as sales, new accounts, lead and referral generation, etc.). Develops and implements strategies and tactics to meet the desired business objectives for assigned product(s).
• Resource Allocation - Helps to ensure the firm’s investment is maximized across the range of assigned products. Reallocates budget as needed to ensure the highest-value initiatives are appropriately funded. Partners across function to ensure business and technical teams are resourced with top talent to sustain high-quality product development.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND 8+ years of total relevant work experience.

Preferred:

• Demonstrated experience owning or leading complex enterprise products or platforms across the full product lifecycle, including strategy, roadmap development, prioritization, requirements, delivery, adoption, and value realization.
• Strong knowledge of Appian or comparable workflow platforms, including direct experience leading product management or product ownership for Appian in a large-scale enterprise environment and translating platform capabilities, constraints, and opportunities into effective product decisions.
• Demonstrated experience with Agile delivery, including roadmap and backlog management, development of epics and user stories, acceptance criteria, sprint/release planning, and close collaboration with engineering, delivery teams, external delivery partners, systems integrators, and software vendors.
• Experience analyzing and redesigning complex business processes and translating business needs into scalable workflow, automation, AI-enabled workflow transformation, intelligent document processing, process intelligence, decision automation, or emerging agentic workflow capabilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to define measurable outcomes, evaluate quantitative and qualitative information, and use data to inform product decisions and value realization.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build consensus, drive decisions with cross-disciplinary teams in a matrixed environment, and translate complex business and technical topics into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
• Experience within investment management, wealth management, financial services, or another highly regulated industry; product management or Agile certification such as CSPO, PSPO, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, or equivalent preferred.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to one day per week from home.

Base Salary Ranges

$135,000.00 - $230,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.

$153,000.00 - $261,000.00 for the location of: New York, California

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one componentof our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determinedupon company and individual performance.
