Focus of the Role

As a Project Manager Senior Lead, you play an integral role in planning and managing projects and programs ranging from small to complex. You are responsible for successful end-to-end delivery, including developing delivery roadmaps, improving processes to accelerate delivery, coordinating interconnected workstreams, and initiating appropriate interventions when gaps, risks, or issues are identified.

Our team leads complex, enterprise-wide initiatives that connect strategy with delivery across Telstra. We partner with product, technology, customer and delivery teams to create clear roadmaps, strengthen governance and deliver sustainable business and customer outcomes.

As Project Manager Senior Lead, you will shape and deliver high-impact projects and programs involving multiple product, technology, customer and delivery teams. You will set multi-year roadmaps and investment priorities, manage complex dependencies and create the clarity, momentum and governance needed to turn strategy into measurable outcomes.

You will take ownership of delivery from planning through to benefit realisation-leading governance, financial management, resourcing, risk management and executive reporting. Working with senior leaders, sponsors and cross-functional teams, you will influence decisions, remove barriers and continuously improve how complex work is delivered.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex projects and programs from concept to completion, whether as standalone initiatives or as part of a broader portfolio.
• Create and maintain multi-year delivery roadmaps that connect strategy, investment, milestones, dependencies and accountabilities.
• Own delivery performance across scope, schedule, budget, quality and benefit realisation.
• Establish effective governance and lead sponsor and Steering Committee forums with clear reporting, escalation and decision support.
• Build alignment across senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams, resolving competing priorities, risks and dependencies.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, resources and delivery capacity to support sustainable outcomes.
• Anticipate and manage risks, issues, dependencies and change, taking timely action to keep delivery on track.
• Improve delivery methodologies, governance practices and ways of working based on evidence and lessons learned.
• Coach and mentor delivery professionals, sharing practical expertise and strengthening capability across the community.

About You

• Extensive experience leading complex projects or programs end-to-end in large, fast-moving organisations.
• Strong commercial acumen, including hands-on responsibility for budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
• A track record of influencing senior leaders, sponsors and governance forums to achieve timely decisions and shared outcomes.
• Confident leadership in matrixed, cross-functional environments, with the ability to bring clarity to ambiguity.
• Excellent communication, governance and reporting skills, including the ability to translate complex information into clear executive insights.
• Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments. Qualifications such as PMP, PRINCE2 or Agile certifications will be highly regarded.
• Background in telecommunications, technology or another complex service environment a definite advantage
