Data Scientist, Ad Network (global)

We are looking for a Data Scientist to bring a rigorous, data-driven approach to our Ad Network team. This role will have a variety of responsibilities across all things data with respect to the ad network, such as BI reporting, analytics, database modeling, entity resolution, graph database modeling, and clustering. You will be driving insights and data pipelines that help us grow and optimize our network for both publishers and advertisers. You will work cross-functionally with Business Leaders, Engineering, and Machine Learning Engineers to identify friction points and surface opportunities and actionable insights. You will help build the data model to power all of this.

This is a hybrid role between a Product Data Analyst who works closely with business stakeholders and senior leadership, and someone who can own the Ad Network Data Stack across data modeling, reporting, analysis, and some machine learning.

Compensation will be based on skill set, experience, and location. Ideally, this candidate can work EST hours.

Ideally, you will have:

• 3+ years of experience as a highly technical Data Analyst, Data Scientist, or Data Engineer
• Excellent SQL skills and experience working with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Mode, Metabase, or similar).
• Experience with R or Python, conducting data-driven research and statistical analysis ( linear regression, k-means clustering)
• Experience with experimentation methodologies (A/B testing, multivariate testing).
• Experience with database data modeling to power reporting and analysis
• Experience with SQL ETL tools to define and materialize KPIs
• Exceptional ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Nice-to-Have:
  • You have worked in Ad Tech or Marketing before
  • ClickHouse or another OLAP database
  • Experience building Entity Resolution systems or models
  • Experience with Graph Databases
  • Creator economy or SaaS experience is a plus

What you'll be responsible for:

• Partner with Product Managers and Business Leaders to proactively define and track key success metrics and KPIs (CPC, CPA, CPM, etc.).
• Build and maintain dashboards and reporting to track campaign performance, network adoption, and impact of new advertisers and campaigns.
• Own and build out our Clickhouse data model with respect to the ad network.
• Design and implement aggregation tables to support ML, reporting, and in-app dashboarding.
• Proactively design and conduct deep-dive analyses to uncover patterns and pain points.
• Translate data findings into clear recommendations to influence product roadmap and prioritization.
• Monitor data flows for issues and anomalies - often caused by misconfigurations.
• Analyze network health to ensure we balance publisher payouts and advertiser value. Recommend tweaks to improve this balance.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Data teams to improve event tracking, instrumentation, and data quality.
• Build out a beehiiv universal entity resolution system in collaboration with other engineers
• Maintain and expand our advertiser conversion attribution logic
• Design and build a potential 1st-party subscriber enrichment product using interaction data across beehiiv products.
• Work with ML on running Brand Lift A/B test studies
