Our role in Vattenfall is to maximize the value of the overall portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging, and sourcing for Vattenfall's sales and generation volumes. At Vattenfall, we are looking for an Junior Operational Risk Manager to join our BA Markets Compliance & Operational Risk Management team. In this role, you’ll help ensure BA Markets operates with integrity, resilience, and strong non-financial risk management.
What You’ll Do
As an Junior Operational Risk Manager, you will:
Incident Management
- Lead and coordinate operational incidents from initial reporting to closure.
- Conduct root cause analyses and define corrective and preventive actions.
- Run and participate in incident working groups, ensuring timely stakeholder engagement.
- Maintain and improve incident trackers, dashboards, and reports.
- Identify recurring patterns and provide insights to management on operational weaknesses.
KYC & Counterparty Due Diligence
- Perform risk-based KYC screenings of new and existing counterparties.
- Conduct sanctions, adverse media and ownership structure reviews.
- Support enhanced due diligence activities for higher-risk counterparties.
- Perform periodic re-screenings and monitoring activities.
- Investigate and manage alerts generated by screening tools.
- Maintain KYC documentation and counterparty records.
- Support the KYC mailbox and respond to KYC-related queries from business users.
Education & Experience
- University degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Risk Management, or a comparable field.
- 0-3 years of experience in operational risk, compliance, internal controls, audit, KYC or a similar field.
- Experience in incident management and risk assessments is highly valued.
- Knowledge of KYC, sanctions screening or due diligence activities.
- Familiarity with energy trading, commodity markets, or financial institutions is a strong asset.
- Continuous improvement and change-oriented mindset.
- Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Excel, Power BI, and incident/risk systems
- High integrity, professionalism, and independence.

- Proactive, structured, and detail-oriented.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
- Comfortable handling ambiguity and making sound risk judgments.
