Join our Mission to Protect Humankind!

Vaxcyte is a clinical-stage vaccine innovation company engineering high-fidelity vaccines to protect humankind from the consequences of bacterial diseases, which have serious and costly health consequences when left unchecked. Working to eradicate or treat bacterial infections such as invasive pneumococcal disease, Group A Strep, and Shigella is just the beginning. Our path to success is clear and well-defined, and Vaxcyte is set up to go the distance.

WHAT  we do is every bit as important as HOW  we do it! Our work together is guided by four enduring core values:

*RETHINK CONVENTION: We bring creative and intellectual diversity to every facet of the work we do in order to innovate and re-innovate the way vaccines are delivered.

*AIM HIGH: We embody our collectively audacious goal to courageously make the most complex biologics ever attempted to protect humankind.

*LEAD WITH HEART: Everyone leads at Vaxcyte with a kindness-first, inclusive approach to collaboration and vigorous debate that advances our business objectives.

*MODEL EXCELLENCE:  The magnitude of our challenge requires our shared commitment to demonstrating integrity, accountability, equality and clarity across communications and decision making.

Summary:

The Vice President, Insights & Analytics (I&A) is a newly created role responsible for building Vaxcyte’s commercial insights, analytics, and forecasting capabilities, beginning with the U.S. adult launch of VAX-31. This leader will oversee the existing Market Research and Competitive Intelligence team while establishing new commercial analytics capabilities, bringing these functions together into an integrated organization that informs strategic and operational decision-making across the Commercial organization.

The VP, I&A will translate market research, customer insights, competitive intelligence, claims data, and commercial performance data into actionable insights that inform strategy, resource allocation, forecasting, and execution. As a trusted advisor to commercial and executive leadership, this role will provide a clear, integrated view of market dynamics, customer needs, competitive developments, and business performance to identify risks and opportunities and support confident, data-driven decisions.

This role sits within the Commercial organization and will partner closely with the Commercial Leadership Team, including the Launch Lead and leaders across Marketing, Sales, Market Access, and Digital Enablement, as well as Finance, Medical Affairs, and Scientific Affairs. The role will own the business questions, analytical priorities, interpretation, and communication of insights, while partnering with Digital Enablement, which owns the systems, platforms, and AI-enabled tools that support data access and analytical capabilities at scale.

Essential Functions:

Insights & Analytics Strategy and Organizational Leadership

  • Define and execute the I&A strategy, operating model, and phased capability build to support pre-launch, launch, and commercial growth, including organizational design, talent, budget, and external partnerships.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team spanning market research, competitive intelligence, forecasting, and commercial analytics, establishing I&A as a trusted center of excellence and source of actionable insights across the organization.
  • Establish data acquisition, governance, and utilization priorities in partnership with Digital Enablement to support integrated, reliable, and timely decision-making.

Market Insights, Competitive Intelligence, and Forecasting

  • Lead market research and competitive intelligence to deepen understanding of healthcare professionals, patients, payers, and the evolving competitive landscape, translating findings into implications for positioning, segmentation, targeting, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Oversee commercial forecasting, ensuring assumptions are informed by qualitative and quantitative evidence and that key risks, opportunities, and market uncertainties are clearly communicated to leadership.

Commercial Analytics and Performance Management

  • Establish the commercial measurement and reporting framework, including performance metrics, dashboards, and executive-level reporting, to monitor launch progress and inform business decisions.
  • Deliver actionable analyses and recommendations across sales, marketing, and market access, including account targeting, sales and marketing effectiveness, investment optimization, return on investment, and sales force incentive compensation in partnership with Sales and Finance.
  • Leverage advanced and AI-enabled analytics in partnership with Digital Enablement to improve analytical efficiency, generate timely insights, and support continuous optimization of commercial execution.

Cross-Functional Partnership and Executive Advisory

  • Partner with commercial leaders to align research, forecasting, and analytics priorities with launch milestones and strategic decisions, ensuring insights are available when needed.
  • Collaborate with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Scientific Affairs, and other cross-functional partners to integrate relevant perspectives while maintaining appropriate functional independence and compliance boundaries.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Commercial Officer and executive leadership, clearly communicating business implications, surfacing emerging risks and opportunities, and informing commercial strategy and expectations.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in a scientific discipline, business, or a quantitative field required. MBA or other advanced degree highly desired.
  • Minimum of 15+ years of industry-related experience, with 7+ years in insights, analytics, forecasting, or market research leadership roles within pharmaceutical, biotech, or vaccine organizations, including direct exposure to vaccine product launch.
  • Demonstrated experience building an Insights & Analytics function from the ground up, or serving as one of the first I&A hires in a pre-launch or early-launch commercial-stage company.
