Antipollution, a member of Vasileiadis Group of Companies (V Group), is a leading provider of environmental and waste-management solutions across the Eastern Mediterranean, Egypt, and the Balkans. Operating in six main business pillars-including Port Reception Facilities, Emergency Response Services, Decontamination Services, Renewable Energy, Alternative Fuel Production from Waste, and Technology-we are committed to sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence.
As part of our digital-transformation agenda, we are looking for a hands-on Senior Cloud & Systems Engineer (Azure) to join the Technology & Innovation Department. You will design, implement and continually optimize our Azure-centric and hybrid infrastructure-spanning virtual machines, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), containers, networking and security services-ensuring high reliability, security, scalability and cost-efficiency.
Role Overview:
You will act as the technical owner for our Azure and hybrid infrastructure, covering everything from compute and virtual desktops to networking, storage, identity and security. The role is 100 % hands-on: you will plan, build, automate, troubleshoot and continuously improve systems yourself-while collaborating closely with peers in software, data and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate & Optimize Infrastructure - Manage Azure and on-prem resources (VMs, AVD pools, scale sets) for performance, availability and cost.
- Networking & Connectivity - Design and administer Azure Virtual Networks, VPN/ExpressRoute, Azure Load Balancer, Application Gateway (WAF), Azure DNS and Front Door.
- Identity & Access Management - Own Azure AD, Conditional Access, PIM and RBAC, enforcing zero-trust and least-privilege principles.
- Containers & Virtualization - Deploy and maintain AKS clusters and Docker workloads; manage VMware/Hyper-V hosts where applicable.
- Infrastructure-as-Code & CI/CD - Build Terraform/Bicep, Ansible and Azure DevOps pipelines to provision and update environments automatically.
- Security & Compliance - Implement and monitor security controls aligned with ISO 27001, NIS2 and ISO 22301; leverage Microsoft Defender for Cloud and conduct regular vulnerability assessments.
- Backup, DR & Resilience - Own Azure Backup, Site Recovery and fail-over strategies; run scheduled DR drills.
- Storage & Data Services - Manage Azure Storage (Blob/File), disks and databases, optimizing for performance, retention, and cost.
- Cost Management - Track cloud spend, right-size resources, negotiate reservations and recommend savings without compromising SLAs.
- Monitoring & Observability - Configure Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights to ensure proactive incident detection and capacity planning.
- Continuous Improvement - Evaluate new Azure services and industry trends, driving PoCs that improve operational excellence.
- Troubleshooting & Support - Provide expert-level diagnostics for complex infrastructure issues and participate in an on-call rotation when required.
Requirements:
Professional Experience
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure and systems engineering.
- Demonstrated delivery of Azure based and hybrid architectures, including networking, security, and automation.
Academic Background & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering or similar.
- Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure IoT Developer, Kubernetes/CKA, networking or security are advantageous.
Languages & Technical Capabilities
- Fluent in Greek and English (written and spoken).
- Deep expertise in Azure services (Compute, Networking, Storage, Security) and governance frameworks.
- Strong skills in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS), virtualization (VMware/Hyper V) and Windows/Linux administration.
- Proficiency with IaC and automation tools (Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, Azure DevOps) and at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- In depth understanding of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, load balancers, WAF, DNS and CDN/Front Door services.
- Familiarity with security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIS2) and best practices for cloud posture management.
Skills:
- Analytical, methodical problem solver with a passion for hands on engineering.
- Clear communicator able to translate technical matters for non-technical stakeholders.
- Highly organized; able to prioritize and deliver multiple projects independently.
What We Offer:
- Competitive remuneration package.
