Job Description

Team Summary

Visa's Tech Partnerships Team is a client-facing organization that sets Visa's public digital narrative. This team develops commercial partnerships and investments with industry-leading digital brands and platform providers and manages ongoing engagement with large and small FinTech players across the region. Tech Partnerships is responsible for growing business development capabilities across Greater China, ensuring teams have the sales narrative, tools, packaged programs and deal support required to position Visa as the partner of choice for Greater China FinTechs.

What a Director, Solution Architect, Tech Partnership does at Visa:

• Serve as the primary technical partner to the Tech Partnerships team, collaborating closely with BD/Sales counterparts to pursue strategic partnerships with leading Chinese digital ecosystem partners and key AI players (e.g. foundation model providers & agent builders).
• Lead solution architecture efforts across strategic partner engagements in Greater China, driving technical discovery, end-to-end solution design, architecture governance and delivery excellence.
• Possess deep expertise in AI ecosystems and Agentic AI application development, translating emerging technologies into scalable, compliant payment and commerce solutions aligned with Visa's product portfolio.
• Engage and influence senior technical decision-makers, product leaders and engineering stakeholders at strategic partners, leveraging strong presentation and whiteboarding capabilities to position Visa as a trusted technology partner.
• Lead and actively contribute to the design and development of end-to-end solution prototypes with client technical teams, leveraging Visa product capabilities and partner applications to rapidly validate business opportunities and accelerate implementation.
• Collaborate closely with local and global Product, Engineering and Value Added Services teams to align solution roadmaps, coordinate technical resources and ensure compliance with Visa's technical standards and architecture principles.
• Provide technical due diligence and architecture leadership for partnership initiatives, identify and mitigate technical risks, and support strategic partnership discussions through technical expertise and solution guidance.
• Monitor developments across AI, payment systems and agentic commerce, translating emerging technology trends into practical solution frameworks, customer opportunities and partnership recommendations.
• Contribute to regional technical partnership strategy by shaping solution approaches, influencing partnership roadmaps and helping drive successful execution across key strategic engagements.

As AI-powered commerce and agentic experiences continue to evolve, partners increasingly require holistic technical solutions rather than standalone product integrations. This role helps transform strategic partnership opportunities into scalable implementations by designing practical architectures, validating ideas through prototypes and ensuring alignment between partner objectives and Visa capabilities. By serving as a trusted advisor across some of Visa's most strategic technology partnerships, this role directly contributes to partner success, accelerates adoption of Visa solutions and strengthens Visa's position within the rapidly evolving AI and digital commerce ecosystem.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

What you will need:

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical field.
• 12+ years of professional experience, including significant experience in solution architecture, platform architecture, technical consulting, cloud architecture or other customer-facing technical leadership roles.
• Deep expertise in AI ecosystems, Agentic AI application development and modern cloud architecture, with demonstrated success translating emerging technologies into commercial solutions.
• Proven track record of partnering with Sales, Business Development and Product organizations to engage technical decision-makers and drive strategic customer or partner engagements.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to navigate complex cross-functional environments and align business, product and engineering stakeholders.
• Excellent presentation, communication and whiteboarding skills, with the ability to facilitate architecture discussions with executives, product leaders and engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver end-to-end solution architectures that integrate platform capabilities, partner applications and emerging technologies into scalable business solutions.
• Hands-on experience building prototypes, proofs of concept or reference implementations to validate technical and commercial opportunities.
• Experience leading complex technical initiatives and driving outcomes through influence, collaboration and technical credibility.
• Experience mentoring architects, engineers or solution consultants while helping establish technical best practices and delivery standards.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin, with the ability to communicate effectively with both local and global stakeholders.

What will also help:

• Experience working with large-scale internet platforms, cloud service providers, AI technology companies, digital ecosystem players like leading online-advertising or FinTech organizations.
• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, orchestration frameworks, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Model Context Protocol (MCP), tool calling or agentic application architectures.
• Familiarity with modern AI development platforms and cloud ecosystems such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud, Volcengine or Tencent Cloud.
• Understanding of payment technologies, digital commerce platforms, risk and compliance requirements, and financial services technology landscapes.
• Experience designing APIs, SDKs, developer platforms or scalable partner-facing technical solutions.
• Knowledge of China's digital ecosystem, including major internet platforms, AI-native applications, super apps and emerging commerce innovations.
• Experience establishing architecture standards, reusable frameworks or solution design methodologies across multiple projects.
• Experience presenting at customer forums, developer communities, industry events or executive-level engagements.
• Prior experience leading small technical teams, technical communities or architecture practices is a plus.

As part of Visa's Tech Partnerships team, you will work at the intersection of AI, digital commerce and strategic technology partnerships, helping shape how consumers and businesses interact with payments in the next decade.

You will collaborate directly with some of Greater China's most innovative technology companies, AI-native startups, digital platforms and foundation model providers to design and deliver next-generation commerce experiences powered by Visa's global payment network.

• Designing and prototyping Agentic Commerce experiences that enable AI agents to discover, recommend, purchase and manage transactions on behalf of users.
• Building innovative solutions that combine Visa's payment capabilities with cutting-edge AI technologies, foundation models and emerging digital ecosystems.
• Working alongside customer product managers, architects and engineering leaders to develop end-to-end solution architectures for strategic partner engagements.
• Developing proof-of-concepts and reference implementations that help transform new partnership ideas into scalable commercial opportunities.
• Influencing how Visa products and services integrate into the rapidly evolving AI ecosystem, helping define new payment experiences for consumers, merchants and developers.
• Collaborating with global Product, Engineering and AI teams to bring the best of Visa's worldwide capabilities to the Greater China market.
• Developing reusable architecture frameworks and solution patterns that accelerate future partner implementations.
• Helping establish and scale Visa's Solution Architecture capability for Tech Partnerships as AI-powered commerce continues to evolve.
