Whistle Express is a US chain of express car washes offering tunnel washes, monthly unlimited wash memberships, a mobile app and free self-service detail vacuums at each site. It was founded in 2014 as Magnolia Wash Holdings by Frank Bennett and Brooks Moye, who combined existing express wash brands, and now runs locations across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma and other states. It hires site team members, shift leads, site and assistant site managers and maintenance technicians, along with corporate accountants, pricing analysts, systems engineers and instructional designers.
You are not just preparing entries. You are strengthening the accuracy and reliability of the accounting foundation.

The Senior Accountant role at Whistle Express is responsible for owning complex accounting activities that support accurate financial reporting, close discipline, and strong controls. This role supports lease accounting, fixed assets, revenue accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and analysis across a growing, multi-site business.

At this level, success is measured by ownership, accuracy, timely close execution, strong reconciliations, thoughtful analysis, and the ability to identify issues before they become reporting or control concerns.

What You’ll Do

Close, Reconciliations, and Financial Reporting

  • Own assigned month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting schedules.
  • Review account activity for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate support before close deadlines.
  • Research variances, unusual activity, and reconciling items, then bring clear recommendations forward.
  • Partner with Accounting leadership to improve processes, strengthen documentation, support audits, and maintain scalable controls.

Lease, Fixed Asset, and Revenue Accounting

  • Support lease accounting by maintaining lease schedules, reviewing lease activity, recording related entries, and partnering with Real Estate and Finance on changes, renewals, and modifications.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting activities, including additions, disposals, depreciation, capital project tracking, and related reconciliations.
  • Support revenue accounting by reviewing revenue activity, validating system outputs, preparing entries, and identifying trends or exceptions that require follow-up.
  • Maintain clear support for lease, asset, and revenue balances so accounting records are accurate, auditable, and consistent.

Where you Lead, Shape & Escalate

Lead:

Assigned accounting areas, complex reconciliations, journal entries, close deliverables, lease accounting support, fixed asset accounting, revenue accounting review, and audit support.

Shape:

Close calendars, reconciliation standards, process documentation, account review routines, asset tracking practices, revenue review procedures, and scalable accounting controls.

Escalate:

Unexplained variances, reconciling items, incomplete support, system issues, lease or asset discrepancies, revenue exceptions, missed deadlines, or control concerns that require Accounting leadership attention.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a senior accountant who can own the details, understand the business context, and strengthen confidence in the numbers.

  • You do not need to be an expert in all areas of Lease, Fixed Asset or Revenue accounting; you can have a deep expertise in one.
  • 4 to 7 or more years of accounting, general ledger, close, reconciliation, fixed asset, lease accounting, revenue accounting, or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, supporting schedules, and monthly close routines.
  • Experience with lease accounting, fixed assets, revenue accounting, multi-site operations, or asset-intensive businesses preferred.
  • Strong Excel, ERP, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CPA track preferred.

Strong accounting starts with strong ownership.

If you are ready to bring discipline, accuracy, and follow-through to a growing accounting function, we want to hear from you.
