Senior Total Rewards Analyst

Are you interested in harnessing technology and AI to transform healthcare?

At XiFin, we believe a healthier, more efficient healthcare system starts with strong financial and operational foundations. Our innovative technologies help diagnostic providers, laboratories, and healthcare systems manage complexity, drive better outcomes, and stay focused on what matters most: patient care.

We’re on a mission to simplify the business side of healthcare-and we know that mission takes people from all backgrounds and experiences. Whether you’re early in your career or bringing years of expertise, we welcome your perspective, your curiosity, and your passion. We value individuals who ask questions, challenge the status quo, and want to grow while making a real difference.

About the Role

XiFin is seeking an experienced Senior Total Rewards Analyst to analyze claims and plan performance, build financial models, and support vendor oversight and renewals. This role is for an experienced professional who works independently, turns complex data into clear recommendations, and wants to build breadth across the full total rewards spectrum.

In this role, you will partner closely with our HR operations team and finance and accounting teams to analyze and pay medical benefits claims for our self-funded plan. Over time, the role will expand into compensation and total rewards strategy, including market pricing, pay structure, and pay equity analysis. This position can be performed onsite in either our San Diego, CA or our Charleston, SC office.

How you will make an impact:

In this role, you’ll focus on the following:

Self-Funded Plan Analytics (primary focus initially, approx. 60-70%)

  • Analyze medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision claims data to identify trends, cost drivers, high-cost claimants, and utilization patterns
  • Build and maintain monthly and quarterly reporting on plan performance, including budget vs. actual, claims lag, IBNR, and stop-loss reimbursement tracking
  • Develop annual budget, renewal, and rate projections, including employee contribution strategies and COBRA rates
  • Evaluate stop-loss coverage, including specific and aggregate attachment points, contract terms, and lasering
  • Partner with brokers/consultants and manage day-to-day relationships with TPA, PBM, and stop-loss carriers, including performance guarantees and service issues
  • Support RFPs, vendor evaluations, and plan design modeling, including emerging strategies such as reference-based pricing, carve-outs, and PBM transparency models
  • Support compliance requirements for self-funded plans, including ACA, ERISA, Form 5500, MHPAEA, Transparency in Coverage, CAA/RxDC reporting, and nondiscrimination testing
  • Support open enrollment planning, communications, and post-enrollment analysis

Compensation and Total Rewards (growing focus, approx. 30-40% over time)

  • Conduct market pricing and job benchmarking using compensation survey data
  • Support job architecture, leveling, and salary range development and maintenance
  • Model and support annual merit, bonus, and incentive cycles
  • Perform pay equity and compression analyses and recommend corrective actions
  • Support compliance with California pay transparency, pay data reporting, and FLSA classification requirements
  • Contribute to total rewards statements and employee communications that clearly show the value of our programs

General

  • Present findings and recommendations to HR leadership, Finance, and executives in clear, concise terms
  • Partner with Finance on forecasting, accruals, and reporting related to benefits and compensation
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee claims, compensation, and other sensitive data
  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve reporting and processes

What you will bring to the role:

We’re looking for someone with strong technical acumen who thrives in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Have strong attention to detail and analytical rigor
  • Can demonstrate strong business acumen and comfort connecting HR data to financial outcomes
  • Are curious and eager to build new expertise in compensation analysis
  • Are comfortable operating in fast-moving, complex and at time ambiguous environments and driving clarity where requirements are complex
  • Can demonstrate strong ownership and accountability for project outcomes
  • Communicate effectively with both highly technical and non-technical audiences

Skill and experience you have:

You don’t need to check every box. We will consider a combination of education and experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4 years of progressive experience in benefits, total rewards, or HR analytics, with at least 2-3 years of hands-on experience with a self-funded health plan
  • Working knowledge of claims analysis, funding mechanics, and stop-loss
  • Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling
  • Working knowledge of benefits compliance requirements (ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA)
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, and the ability to explain complex topics to non-experts
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools
  • Demonstrated implementation of AI and automation of workflows
  • Experience with a consulting firm, broker, or TPA
  • Experience with an HRIS and compensation or benefits administration platforms [e.g., Workday, UKG, ADP, Dayforce]
  • Exposure to compensation work such as market pricing, survey participation, or merit cycle modeling
  • Professional credentials such as CEBS, CBP, GBA, CCP, or CECP
  • Master's degree in a related field
