Headquartered in North Bethesda, Maryland, the company utilizes proprietary algorithms to provide instant pricing, lead times, and design-for-manufacturability feedback. Its on-demand platform enables engineers and procurement teams to streamline sourcing across process capabilities like CNC machining, 3D printing, and injection molding.

Xometry (NASDAQ: XMTR) powers the industries of today and tomorrow by connecting the people with big ideas to the manufacturers who can bring them to life. Xometry’s digital marketplace gives manufacturers the critical resources they need to grow their business while also making it easy for buyers at Fortune 1000 companies to tap into global manufacturing capacity.

The Field Solutions Engineer, Strategic Programs is a field-deployed technical role that lives close to the customer and close to the shop floor. This person is responsible for growing business at existing strategic accounts by identifying, qualifying, and standing up new production programs, and for enabling Xometry's manufacturing partners to execute those programs successfully once they are won.

This is a hybrid of solutions engineering, account growth, and program execution. Success requires someone who is technically credible with engineers and machinists, commercially minded with procurement and program leadership, and comfortable operating independently in the field with minimal oversight.

This role reports into the Strategic Program Enablement team.

How You'll Contribute:

Grow Business Within Existing Strategic Accounts

  • Serve as the embedded technical advisor at a portfolio of assigned strategic customer sites
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new production program opportunities within existing accounts by mapping customer part families, spend, and sourcing pain points to Xometry capabilities
  • Conduct discovery sessions with customer engineering, procurement, quality, and program teams to uncover business and technical requirements
  • Build the technical business case for conversion, including DFx recommendations, process selection, cost reduction, and lead time improvement
  • Partner with Sales and Account Management to anticipate and overcome technical objections and accelerate opportunities to award
  • Own a defined growth target across the assigned account portfolio

Enable Partners to Execute and Scale

  • Translate customer requirements into clear, executable technical packages for Xometry's manufacturing partners
  • Support partner identification and qualification for new programs, including capability assessment, capacity review, and production readiness
  • Conduct on-site partner visits to validate process capability, first article readiness, and inspection methods
  • Coach partners through ramp-up, troubleshooting production issues, resolving quality escapes, and driving corrective action
  • Identify partner capability gaps within a region or process and work with the Partner Network team to close them
  • Drive partner performance against on-time delivery, quality, and cost objectives on assigned programs

Drive Program Execution in the Field

  • Own technical execution from program award through production launch and into steady-state supply
  • Lead resolution of manufacturability, quality, capacity, and scheduling issues that put program commitments at risk
  • Escalate risk early and coordinate mitigation across customer, partner, and internal teams
  • Support production ramps, program transfers, and new product introductions at assigned accounts
  • Track and report program health against cost, quality, delivery, and growth objectives

Strengthen the Broader Organization

  • Feed field learnings back into Product, Engineering, and Operations to improve tools, quoting accuracy, and workflows
  • Contribute case studies, technical content, and marketing collateral based on program wins
  • Represent Xometry as a technical voice at customer events, industry events, and webinars
  • Help codify repeatable playbooks for program identification, partner enablement, and launch as the Strategic Program Enablement function scales

What You'll Bring To Xometry:

Core Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or technical customer-facing role
  • Demonstrated expertise across multiple manufacturing processes, such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, casting, or additive manufacturing
  • Ability to identify design for manufacturing (DFM) issues from CAD models and drawings; working CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawing requirements, and inspection and QA practices
  • Experience working directly with suppliers or contract manufacturers on production execution
  • Track record of growing or expanding business within existing customer accounts

How You Work

  • Mechanically intuitive and equally comfortable in a deep technical discussion with a machinist and in a business review with a director of procurement
  • Consultative by instinct, asking questions to understand the why before proposing a solution
  • Driven and self-motivated, able to manage several long-running programs with minimal oversight in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including mastery in English
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and building the process while running it

Location and Travel

  • Remote, based within reasonable driving distance of the assigned strategic customer sites
  • Approximately 50% travel to customer and partner facilities
  • Must be a citizen or legal resident of the United States, or hold a visa that allows you to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial, or medical device supply chains
  • Prior experience in a field applications engineer, solutions engineer, supplier development, or customer program engineering role
  • Experience supporting production programs from RFQ through ramp and steady-state supply
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, quoting platforms, and supply chain analytics tools
