As an AI Engineer in our ML/AI Engineering chapter, you’ll help build the agentic AI capability that enables teams across Zurich to turn promising ideas into secure, reliable solutions. You’ll work across the full engineering lifecycle, creating reusable services and patterns that make AI delivery safer, faster and more consistent.

This is a hands-on opportunity to solve meaningful customer and business problems while helping shape how AI is engineered and operated in a regulated environment. Your work will directly support Zurich’s ambition to become Australia’s leading digital insurer.

You will also be responsible for the following:

• Deliver production-grade agentic AI solutions across discovery, experimentation, design, build and operation.
• Apply and improve reusable engineering patterns, shared services and technical guardrails for AI delivery.
• Implement evaluation, observability and cost-management frameworks to improve the performance and reliability of AI solutions.
• Design secure APIs and interfaces that connect large language models with core enterprise systems.
• Embed DevSecOps, automated testing and secure-by-design practices throughout the AI delivery lifecycle.
• Partner with product, design, subject matter experts and engineers to translate customer and business needs into deployable AI capability.

You are naturally curious and enjoy turning complex, ambiguous problems into practical solutions. You bring a strong delivery mindset, communicate technical trade-offs clearly and build trusted relationships with stakeholders across product, design and engineering.

In order to be successful, you will have the following:

• Production experience building AI agents using modern frameworks such as LangGraph, AWS AgentCore and MCP.
• Professional software engineering experience, including designing, building and operating AI or large language model-based systems in production.
• Strong AWS engineering capability across services such as Bedrock, Lambda, API Gateway, SageMaker, ECS, S3 and IAM.
• Full-stack development capability using TypeScript, Node.js and Python, with React or Next.js frontend experience.
• Experience designing REST or GraphQL APIs and applying authentication patterns including OAuth, OIDC, JWT and IAM.
• Applied experience in AI evaluation, guardrails, observability, cost management, CI/CD automation and secure DevSecOps delivery.
