[Remote] Software Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Zwift is rebuilding Zwift.com as a modern, reliable, reusable growth platform. The Software Engineer will help migrate the site and deliver full-stack features across customer acquisition, authentication, subscriptions, e-commerce, and supporting platform capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Work on a cross-functional team to deliver exciting features that span our microservice backend, zwift.com client, e-commerce platform, subscription management platform, and admin tooling
• Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, and reliable code in multiple programming languages and platforms
• Help establish a supported web-platform foundation, including rendering and caching strategies, CDN behavior, API access patterns, CI/CD, observability, automated testing, and decommissioning of legacy functionality
• Build reusable page templates, structured content models, and CMS integrations that enable governed self-service publishing for Marketing and content teams
• Collaborate with other engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and pair programming
• Participate in on-call support, monitoring, and troubleshooting of all services owned by the team
• Identify technical risks and help build mitigation plans
• Use AI-assisted development thoughtfully to accelerate activities such as codebase analysis, migration planning, test generation, documentation, and component consolidation while maintaining appropriate engineering review and quality standards
• Work with engineers and product managers to scope and plan projects
• Participate in the interview process

Skills

• BS/MS in Computer Science and/or relevant technical area
• 2-5 years of software development experience
• Strong proficiency with modern JavaScript or TypeScript and a component-based frontend framework such as React
• Proficient in one or more development technologies: we mostly use React, Java and Kotlin, but there is no specific language requirement
• Experience with: web development and frontend architecture, cloud-based microservices, and/or event sourcing
• Experience with server-rendered or hybrid web frameworks
• Familiarity with web performance, accessibility, analytics instrumentation, and SEO fundamentals
• Experience with software engineering best practices such as automated testing, monitoring/alerting, continuous integration, code reviews, etc
• Experience with production troubleshooting and on-call
• Tenacity to get things done and enthusiasm for learning in an evolving problem space
• Next.js experience is strongly preferred
• Experience working with Kubernetes and containerization
• Experience shipping cross-platform apps, especially: iOS, tvOS, Android, Mac, and PC
• Interest in creating fun experiences around cycling, running, and overall fitness
