Overview
Inflection AI built the personal artificial intelligence assistant Pi together with its own Inflection model family, trained on one of the largest compute clusters of its era. Most of its founding team and researchers joined Microsoft in 2024 in an unusual arrangement that left the company operating independently. The business now focuses on enterprise deployments of empathetic conversational models rather than frontier scale pretraining; its earlier work on conversational tone and memory shaped several consumer assistant products.
