Next Coast Ventures is an Austin venture capital firm that invests in emerging companies at the critical stage before hyper-growth. It backs technology businesses in software, marketplaces and consumer technology, with a focus on companies based outside the traditional coastal hubs. The firm was founded in 2015 by Michael Smerklo and Tom Ball around the idea that great companies would increasingly come from the next coast.
