Dental Materials Clerk

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Under the supervision of the Material Management Supervisor, the Dental Materials Clerk maintains maintains, dispenses, and stocks dental materials, instrumentation cassettes, and equipment in a fast-paced clinical and educational environment. This role interacts daily with dental/hygiene students, residents, instructors, and support staff.

Operating in a fast-paced environment, the clerk interacts frequently with dental and hygiene students, residents, support staff, and clinical instructors. Knowledge of dental procedures, products, supply operations, and program requirements is preferred, alongside strict adherence to School of Dentistry supply policies.

Duties may extend to materials reprocessing, the Simulation Lab, Central Sterilization, clinic floor tasks, and basic chairside assisting as needed.

This is a casual position with hours varying from 0 to 35 hours per week. Shifts vary between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts until 9:00 PM.

• Inventory Management: Dispense, retrieve, and track supplies using AxiUm; conduct stock audits; monitor expiry dates; transport supply carts across dispensaries and labs.
• Infection Prevention & Control (IPC): Maintain IPC and EHS/WHMIS standards; setup/clean dispensaries and return rooms; verify sterilization of instruments; mentor students and instructors on safety protocols.
• Student & Clinical Support: Guide students on appropriate material/equipment selection for procedures; support Central Sterilization, Simulation Lab, and clinic floor activities.
• Operations & Safety: Assist with emergency paging, nurse call responses, and floor evacuation protocols.

Education

• Grade 12 Diploma
• Dental training experience an asset (examples: dental assistant, hygienist, dental administrator)
• Inventory Management training/experience an asset
• Current CPR : Health Care Provider Level C certification required
• Current WHIMIS training

• Strong communication skills - verbal and written
• Computer proficiency in MS office, Google Suite required
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to push pull and lift up to 50 pounds

Knowledge

• Knowledge of dental procedures, materials and equipment an asset
• Knowledge of Infection Control Protocol
• Knowledge of sterilization procedures for dental instruments and equipment
• Inventory/supply management experience - experience with inventory management software; AxiUm dental software familiarity an asset - ability to track inventory and create reports
