We are looking for a Senior Azure AI Developer to join our Data & AI practice at Altron Digital Business. You will design, build and operationalise enterprise-grade AI solutions using Microsoft Azure AI Foundry, working directly with client stakeholders to turn business problems into scalable, production-ready AI systems. This senior role combines hands-on development, architectural thinking and the ability to lead AI workstreams and mentor others.
Required Tasks
Lead discovery sessions and translate business use cases into AI solution designs.
Own delivery of secure, production-ready AI workstreams for clients.
Build AI solutions in Azure AI Foundry, including model orchestration, prompt engineering, evaluation and agent patterns.
Develop RAG solutions, vector search and embedding pipelines using Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Services.
Integrate AI with Fabric, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB and ADLS.
Build scalable AI backends and APIs.
Implement CI/CD, monitoring and model lifecycle management.
Apply responsible AI, security and POPIA/GDPR requirements.
Contribute to delivery accelerators and standards.
Requirements
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or related field.
8-10+ years' experience in software engineering, data engineering or AI/ML.
Proven experience taking AI solutions from prototype to production.
Hands-on Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI (GPT, embeddings, function calling) and Azure AI Services.
Strong Python and/or .NET.
Experience with RAG, vector search and prompt pipelines.
API design, backend development and Git-based workflows.
CI/CD and monitoring for AI workloads.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Azure AI Engineer, Azure Developer or Foundry certifications advantageous.
