The Corporate Finance team supports the financial integrity of Artisan Partners, through accounting, financial reporting, analysis and financial controls.
The Corporate Finance Associate will join a collaborative team with exposure to a broad range of accounting and financial activities across the Firm. The role offers an opportunity to build a strong foundation in corporate finance while contributing to the monthly close, financial reporting and analysis, and ongoing financial operations.
In addition to core accounting responsibilities, the Associate will help advance how the team works by using data, analytics, automation and AI-enabled tools to improve processes, strengthen controls and generate meaningful financial insights. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, intellectual curiosity and an interest in using technology to solve problems and continuously improve the Finance function.
Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to:
- Support the monthly close process, including preparation of general ledger entries, account reconciliations and related financial analysis
- Analyze monthly financial results, identify key trends and drivers, and prepare variance analysis for presentation to management
- Reconcile cash activity, investigate anomalies and use analytical and automation tools to improve transaction matching and reconciliation processes
- Identify opportunities to automate, standardize and enhance financial processes, reporting and controls
- Partner with departments across the Firm to provide budget-to-actual reporting and analysis, including identification of meaningful trends and expense drivers
- Analyze fixed asset transactions and apply appropriate GAAP accounting treatment
- Perform calculations and analysis related to right-of-use assets and lease liabilities under ASC 842
- Support internal and external audit requests and contribute to special projects and ad hoc financial analysis
- Process and review accounts payable activity, including invoice payments and general ledger coding
- Process and review Firm credit card payments and travel expense reports
Qualifications
The successful candidate will combine strong accounting fundamentals and attention to detail with an analytical mindset and genuine interest in working with data and technology. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:
- 1-3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience; public accounting experience preferred
- Four-year degree in accounting with demonstrated academic achievement
- CPA or progress toward CPA designation preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in continuous process improvement
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities and exercise sound judgment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and functions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel skills
- Exposure to at least one data or analytics tool beyond Excel, such as SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx or Python, with an interest in further developing those capabilities
- Experience using large language models (LLMs) for practical applications and curiosity about applying emerging technologies within the Finance function
