Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

JOB ROLE

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to build and maintain productized reports for the Connected Store product, which supports multiple retailer and brand programs across the USA, UK, and South Africa. The ideal candidate will possess strong business intelligence (BI) engineering skills, complemented by a robust technical background and a solid understanding of basic data engineering practices. Proficiency in data structures, Python data tools, query languages, and Tableau will be highly beneficial for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reporting and Analysis:Develop, standardize, and maintain product reports and dashboards to monitor the performance of connected store network operations, including media and sales performance reports.
• Data Management:
  • Establish and maintain appropriate ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from various internal and external sources.
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data by implementing rigorous data cleaning and validation procedures.
  • Design and optimise data pipelines to facilitate efficient data flow and processing.
  • Manage and organise large datasets to support business intelligence reporting and analysis.
  • Continuously monitor and refine ETL processes to adapt to changing data sources and business requirements.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless data integration and accessibility.
• BI Tools Utilization:
  • Utilize BI tools like Tableau and Grafana to create reports, dashboards, and visualizations that provide actionable insights.
  • Optimize BI tools to ensure optimal performance when embedding reports and support upgrades, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Performance Monitoring:Assist with establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) across the product, including network operations, system performance, and program performance defined by media and sales metrics.
• Collaboration:Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and sales, to support strategic initiatives.
• Documentation:Maintain clear and thorough documentation of processes, methodologies, and analyses.
• Continuous Improvement:Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of experience in a related field.
• Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Proven experience working with and establishing ETL processes.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau.
• Strong technical background with an understanding of basic data engineering practices.
• Experience with Python and related data tools.
• Familiarity with data structures, query languages (MySQL), and database management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with monitoring KPIs and performance metrics.
• Experience in the retail or media industry is a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control systems is an advantage.
