Blue Origin is an American aerospace company founded quietly by Jeff Bezos in 2000, and funded for two decades largely out of his own fortune rather than external investment. It flies the suborbital New Shepard vehicle for space tourism and research payloads, and developed the heavy-lift New Glenn rocket alongside the BE-4 engine, which also powers United Launch Alliance's Vulcan. Headquartered in Kent, Washington, the company is building the Blue Moon lunar lander under a NASA Artemis contract and has moved from a deliberately slow development culture toward far more aggressive schedules under chief executive Dave Limp.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.

About the Role

The People Ops & Tech organization builds and runs the technology and service engine behind the employee experience at Blue Origin. Our software and agile teams carry 50+ enhancement projects at any given time in addition to multi-month and multi-year projects. Our HR Service Center resolves more than 60,000 employee service requests every year. We are also moving our services, and our tools toward AI. Running that complexity well take an operator with real depth.

This role will act as a strategic partner to the leader of the People Ops & Tech organization and will be a core member of that leadership team. You will own the business operations program, including the status reporting, rhythm of business, risk and issue management, and escalation mechanisms that keep a complex organization running cleanly. You will also modernize how work is managed across every team, so leadership has a single, trustworthy view of what is happening, when it is at risk, and what comes next. You will put in place the audit and quality mechanisms and escalation triggers that catch data and product issues before our customers do.

This is a strategic, hands-on role for someone who is as comfortable in the details of a portfolio plan as they are in an executive review. You are AI-literate and know how to use AI to run a faster, more proactive, more transparent operation.

Responsibilities

  • Run the business operations engine. Own the organization's operating rhythm: weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews, leadership team cadences, planning cycles, and executive reporting. Make sure the right information reaches the right people at the right time, with minimal manual effort.
  • Own status, risk, and issue management. Establish and run consistent mechanisms for status reporting, risk and issue tracking, dependency management, and escalation across all teams. Move the organization from reacting to problems to anticipating them, with clear early-warning signals and defined escalation paths.
  • Modernize work and portfolio management across the HR Tech and service delivery portfolio. Assess current work management practices across software, agile, service operations, and the HR Service Center. Design and implement a unified approach to intake, prioritization, capacity planning, demand management, and delivery tracking that covers 50+ concurrent enhancement projects and ongoing service work. Standardize tooling, taxonomy, and practices while respecting the different needs of each team.
  • Create a single source of truth. Build integrated dashboards and reporting that give leadership real-time, accurate visibility into portfolio health, delivery performance, service metrics, and operational risk. Automate data collection and reporting wherever possible.
  • Build audit and quality mechanisms. Partner with product, data, and service teams to design controls that detect data inaccuracies, system breaks, process failures, and service defects before employees experience them. Define monitoring, reconciliation, and audit routines. Drive root cause analysis and corrective action, and track whether fixes hold.
  • Apply AI to operations. Identify and implement AI-enabled approaches to work management, reporting, risk detection, and service operations. Partner with technology and data teams to evaluate tools, run pilots, and scale what works. Help the organization adopt new ways of working as services and tools shift toward AI.
  • Drive operational performance. Define, track, and report metrics for delivery, service quality, productivity, and customer experience (such as on-time delivery, request volume and resolution time, backlog health, defect rates, and audit findings). Turn insights into prioritized improvements.
  • Partner across the leadership team. Support strategic planning, budget and resource tracking, org-level goals and OKRs, and cross-team initiatives. Facilitate alignment and drive follow-through on leadership decisions. Act as a trusted advisor to the HR Technology & Operations leader.
  • Influence without authority. Lead through credibility, clarity, and relationships across teams, HR Centers of Excellence, and technology partners. Coach team leaders on operating mechanisms and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in business operations, program or portfolio management, technology operations, or a related field, including experience supporting a senior leadership team
  • Experience designing and running operating rhythms, status reporting, and risk, issue, and escalation management in a large, complex organization
  • Experience in portfolio and work management practices across agile and non-agile delivery models
  • Experience managing or overseeing large portfolios of concurrent projects and ongoing service operations

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in HR technology, HR operations, shared services, or employee service delivery
  • Experience designing data quality, audit, or monitoring controls for systems, data, or services
  • Hands-on experience with work management and reporting tools (for example Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, Asana, ServiceNow, Workday, Power BI, or Databricks)
  • Strong AI literacy, including a working understanding of how AI tools can improve work management, reporting, quality assurance, and service delivery
  • Ability to build, interpret, and communicate metrics and dashboards that drive decisions using data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to brief executives concisely and clearly
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across teams without direct authority
  • PMP, SAFe, Lean Six Sigma, or similar certification
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed environment
