Job Summary

The Housekeeper will maintain the cleanliness, presentation, and hygiene of guest rooms and designated hotel areas. The successful candidate will ensure that rooms and facilities meet the hotel’s cleanliness and service standards while responding professionally to guest requests.

You will work closely with the housekeeping team and other hotel departments to ensure that guests enjoy a clean, comfortable, and pleasant stay.

• Clean and prepare guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and other assigned areas according to hotel standards.

• Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize surfaces and floors thoroughly.

• Clean and disinfect bathrooms, toilets, showers, sinks, mirrors, and other fixtures.

• Inspect guest rooms after cleaning to ensure they meet required quality standards.

• Report maintenance issues, damaged items, or safety hazards promptly to the appropriate supervisor or department.

• Replenish toiletries, cleaning supplies, and other guest-room amenities as required.

• Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to approved procedures.

• Maintain cleanliness in public areas, staff areas, and other designated hotel spaces.

• Collect, sort, and handle laundry and linen according to hotel procedures.

• Handle guests’ belongings and personal items with care and maintain strict confidentiality.

• Respond courteously to reasonable guest requests and communicate any concerns to the supervisor.

• Coordinate with the front office to receive updates on room status and guest requirements.

• Work with the maintenance team to report and follow up on room repairs.

• Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, lost-and-found items, and other relevant housekeeping information.

• Keep housekeeping equipment, storage areas, and supply rooms clean and organized.

• Follow hotel hygiene, health, safety, and environmental procedures.

• Minimize wastage of cleaning products, linen, amenities, and other hotel resources.

• Support colleagues during busy periods to ensure rooms are prepared on time.

• Perform other housekeeping duties assigned by the supervisor or management.

Educational Requirements

• Basic Education Certificate or Senior High School (SHS) certificate or equivalent qualification.

• A Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Housekeeping, Hotel Management, or a related field will be an advantage.

• Training in housekeeping, cleaning services, or hospitality operations will be an added advantage.

Experience and Skills

• Previous experience as a housekeeper, room attendant, cleaner, or in a similar hospitality role will be an advantage.

• Good understanding of hotel housekeeping and cleaning procedures.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

• Ability to use cleaning equipment and products safely and effectively.

• Good knowledge of basic hygiene and sanitation practices.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high cleaning standards.

• Friendly and respectful approach to guests and colleagues.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to follow instructions and established hotel procedures.

• Honest, dependable, and responsible work ethic.

• Ability to handle physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving housekeeping equipment.

• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to hotel service standards.
