Manufacturing Process Engineer

Location: Gödöllő

Caterpillar Hungary is looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team.

If you enjoy taking ownership of projects from concept through implementation, turning ideas into practical manufacturing solutions, and collaborating across production, quality, supply chain, maintenance and engineering teams, this could be a great opportunity for you.

In this role, you will support and improve manufacturing processes while contributing to projects focused on capacity improvement, cost reduction, quality, optimization and manufacturing equipment investment. You will have the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work on our production environment.

What You Will Do

  • Support day-to-day manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and process performance.
  • Participate in and lead small to mid-sized manufacturing projects, including capacity improvement, cost reduction, quality improvement, process optimization and manufacturing equipment investment projects.
  • Design and support the implementation of tooling, jigs and fixtures required for manufacturing.
  • Coordinate more complex manufacturing equipment and fixture modifications, working closely with external suppliers and supporting investment activities.
  • Improve manufacturing processes and technologies, including manual welding, robotic and automated processes and Lean manufacturing activities.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and prepare and maintain manufacturing-related product and process data in the ERP system.
  • Develop, maintain and update work instructions and process documentation, and support the training of employees on new or revised processes.
  • Collaborate closely with production, quality, supply chain, maintenance and other engineering teams to solve manufacturing challenges and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Take ownership of projects and improvements from initial idea through implementation.

What Will Help You Succeed

We are looking for someone who can combine technical understanding with practical problem-solving and collaboration.

You will ideally bring:

  • A BSc or MSc degree in an engineering or manufacturing-related field. Mechanical Engineering is preferred but not essential.
  • Practical understanding of manufacturing methods, technologies and processes, or the ability to apply engineering knowledge in a manufacturing environment.
  • English language skills that allow you to work with technical documentation and communicate with international colleagues.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • The ability to analyze information, identify key issues and make well-reasoned decisions.
  • A structured, systems-thinking approach to solving problems and improving processes.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across different functions.
  • A proactive mindset, curiosity and a willingness to take ownership and initiative.
  • The ability to manage priorities and move projects and improvements from idea to implementation.

Skills That Would Be an Advantage

You do not need to bring everything on this list. We would also value experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing company or technical environment.
  • Experience delivering or coordinating small to mid-sized projects.
  • Knowledge of 3D design software and the ability to create or interpret basic designs.
  • Experience with Excel VBA and/or Power BI.
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing, automation, robotics or welding processes.
  • Experience working with external suppliers on manufacturing equipment, tooling or investment projects.
  • A solution-oriented and collaborative approach, with openness to new ideas and continuous improvement.

What We Offer

At Caterpillar, your work contributes to building solutions that help our customers make progress around the world. In this role, you will have the opportunity to take real ownership and see how your ideas translate into practical improvements on the manufacturing floor.

We offer:

  • A competitive total rewards package, including day-one benefits and an annual bonus.
  • Cafeteria benefits, medical services and commuting support of HUF 45/km.
  • Continuous learning and development opportunities, including technical and soft-skills training.
  • A challenging role with end-to-end responsibility and opportunities for professional growth.
  • A dynamic, international working environment with collaboration across multiple functions.
