Forward Deployed Engineer
About the Role
This is a hands-on engineering role at an early-stage tax advisory tech company, sitting at the intersection of software development and domain problem-solving. You will work directly alongside tax advisors to understand their workflows, build MVPs quickly, and iterate until the software genuinely improves how they work. The role is central to the company's mission of bringing modern technology to the German tax advisory industry.
What You'll Do
Build MVPs in close collaboration with tax advisors, translating complex advisory workflows into working software.
Iterate rapidly based on direct feedback from non-technical domain experts.
Own features end-to-end, from requirements gathering and scoping through to deployment.
Act as a bridge between advisory teams and the product, shaping requirements and driving implementation.
What We're Looking For
3+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer building and deploying production software.
Fluent German language proficiency, both spoken and written, is required.
Proficiency with NestJS or an equivalent Node.js backend framework (e.g. Express).
Proficiency with React or an equivalent modern frontend framework.
Experience with full-stack TypeScript development is a strong plus.
Proven ability to build MVPs and iterate quickly based on user feedback.
Experience translating complex domain workflows into software requirements and implementations.
Comfortable working directly with non-technical stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
Code-first mindset, no low-code or no-code tools.
University degree.
Background in financial services, tax, accounting, or other regulated advisory domains is a plus.
Familiarity with German business processes or regulatory environments is a plus.
Experience in a startup or early-stage environment is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: 60,000 to 120,000 EUR annually, depending on experience.
Location
On-site in Berlin, Germany.
