As a Software Developer II, you will be responsible for the design, documentation, coding, unit testing, systems testing and deployment of software applications. In this role, you will work closely with other developers, project managers, analysts and leaders, as well as clinicians to obtain regular feedback on design and development. You will support PIRO, an internal application and search engine for pathology notes and cases, assist with assigned tasks and support AI and machine learning initiatives. You will communicate system issues and implications while utilizing knowledge in computer science or software engineering and software development methodologies to create innovative health solutions.

A caregiver in this position works remotely from 8:30 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m.

Caregivers are preferred to reside in Ohio or Florida for this role.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Iterate with team members around analysis, design and development of software systems.

  • Develop new software and proofing/testing the development to assure production of a quality product.

  • Work with lead developers, lead engineers, and senior developers to ensure software development and engineering standards are met.

  • Make recommendations which yield a more cost-effective product and better streamlined workflows while supporting team strategy in development approach.

  • Observe operational and clinical workflow and works to build solutions around observed behaviors.

  • Help to translate clinical problems into innovative healthcare solutions.

  • Provide technical support to other developers when project support is needed.

  • Experience in interfacing with internal and external customers.

  • Gather business and application specific requirements.

  • Ensure all requirements are met as well as maintained within defined project scope and documented within documentation management system.

  • Keep up with industry trends and bring new ideas and industry solutions to healthcare for a unique application.

  • Troubleshoot issues and support fix and updates in a timely manner.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or Engineeringand two years of experience in software development

  • OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related fields and one year of experience

  • OR If position is hired into the Digital Mobile Department and two years iOS and/or Android development experience

  • OR If position is hired into Cleveland Clinic Research Instituteand two years of experience in bioinformatics software development and/or two years of experience managing and analyzing clinical and bioinformatics research data may be substituted

  • OR If position is hired to support the ServiceNow technologyand two years of ServiceNow experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • For Information Technology Division caregivers, ITIL Foundations certification is preferred

  • Experience with hospital or medical systems

  • Knowledge and experience with Machine learning and AI algorithms

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of software development

  • Healthcare experience in Pathology/laboratory medicine

  • Extensive experience with python, API integration, FASTAPI, JavaScript, CC3, HTML and angular SQL

  • Experience in health software, hospital medical system, epic clarity and lab medicine

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
