MRI / NMR Physicist — Digital Twin

Location: Remote within Europe, with regular presence in Bremen

Direct Reports:  None; supervision of students possible

Working Model: Remote / hybrid. Regular time on-site in Bremen.

Mission

Build digital-twin and simulation capability for magnetic resonance. The role covers MRI and NMR sequence modelling, simulation of imaging systems validated against measurement, and optimal control applied to pulse design, with a path from research method towards a product and a clinical or industrial application.

Responsibilities

Pillar 1 Modelling and Simulation

• Develop MRI and NMR sequence models and the simulation tooling around them.
• Build digital twins of imaging systems and validate them against real measurement.
• Apply optimal control and pulse optimisation to magnetic resonance problems.

Success Metrics and KPIs: simulation accuracy against measurement, sequences delivered.

Pillar 2 Towards Application

• Assess the route from research method to product, including any regulatory path.
• Work with clinical and industrial partners on validation and use cases.
• Identify where the digital-twin approach gives a real advantage over existing tools.

Success Metrics and KPIs: partner engagements, validated use cases, product requirements defined.

Pillar 3 Research and Collaboration

• Publish, and collaborate with Constructor University faculty on imaging and reconstruction.
• Contribute to grant applications in medical imaging and quantum sensing.
• Supervise students working on reconstruction and simulation.

Success Metrics and KPIs: publications, collaborations, grant applications supported.

Requirements

Experience

• PhD in physics, medical physics or a related field.
• MRI or NMR sequence development and the physics underneath it.
• Simulation and modelling of imaging systems.
• Scientific programming in Python or comparable.

Skills & Competencies

• Able to move between the physics, the code and the application.
• Interest in taking a research method towards a product.
• Comfortable as the specialist in your area within a broader quantum group.
• Clear scientific communication.

Education & Languages

• PhD in physics, medical physics or a closely related field.
• Fluent English.
