[Remote] Software Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Dakota State University is hiring a Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and update website and web application content and support digital accessibility. The role also provides support for university systems to help ensure efficient operations and a strong experience across digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain custom content management systems components and UI functionality
• Support SharePoint administration, intranet site development and maintenance
• Design, create and maintain websites and web applications
• Write various code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C# etc
• Implement responsive design for various platforms, devices and screens and integrate design assets
• Build server side logic and functionality
• Create APIs for data exchange between front and back end systems
• Optimize websites and applications for speed, performance and accessibility
• Utilize version control and code changes and updates
• Implement security practices to protect digital assets
• Create forms and workflows within Microsoft Power Platforms
• Review forms and documents for accessibility
• Assist with systems administration support, maintenance, and technical documentation for existing systems

Skills

• Foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Understanding of general programming and software development concepts
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL
• Basic knowledge of version control software
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug applications
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to learn new technologies and development platforms
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical users
• Ability to document technical processes and solutions
• Understanding of responsive and accessible web design principles
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position
