Forward Deployment Engineer

We're looking for a hands-on builder who enjoys solving real customer problems. You should be comfortable moving between coding, APIs, AI agents, integrations, debugging, and customer deployments and be excited about shipping working solutions quickly.

Responsibilities:

• Deploy and configure Dextr's AI platform for new customers.
• Configure AI agents, prompts, call flows, knowledge bases, and SOPs based on customer requirements.
• Build custom tools, scripts, automations, dashboards, and data loaders using Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Integrate customer systems using REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, and low-code tools.
• Work with systems such as PMS, POS, CRM, telephony, and guest messaging platforms.
• Write, test, and refine prompts for customer-facing AI agents.
• Test AI-agent conversations end-to-end before production deployment.
• Debug issues across prompts, APIs, integrations, data flows, and customer systems.
• Convert recurring deployment activities into reusable tools and templates.
• Collaborate closely with the US-based delivery/customer success team and Bangalore engineering team.
• Support customer deployments through successful go-live.

Requirements:

• 1-2 years of software engineering experience. Relevant product-company internships can also be considered.
• Strong programming fundamentals in Python OR JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, API integrations, JSON, and webhooks.
• Exposure to generative AI, LLMs, or AI agents through professional work, internships, or strong personal projects.
• Experience using an LLM API such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or similar.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to quickly build small tools, scripts, integrations, and automations.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Willingness to work in-office from Bangalore with some overlap with US Pacific hours.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with prompt engineering and evaluating AI-agent conversations.
• Exposure to LangChain, LangGraph, RAG, vector databases, or agentic AI frameworks.
• Experience with Voice AI or Conversational AI.
• Exposure to CCaaS, telephony systems, or platforms such as Twilio.
• Experience with workflow automation, low-code/no-code platforms, or internal tools.
• Experience working with integration-heavy B2B SaaS products.
• Exposure to hospitality technologies such as PMS, POS, CRM, or guest messaging platforms.
• Previous startup or customer-facing engineering experience.
