Currently, around 4,000 employees are working at CARIAD on the digital transformation of the car. CARIAD is working intensively on the software and technology platform for Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The first vehicles based on PPE will be the electric Porsche Macan and Audi Q6 e-tron. At the core of CARIAD is the development of the unified and scalable software and technology platform E³ 2.0 for all Group brands. E³ stands for ‘end to end electronics architecture’. The new software and technology platform is built from scratch and will be used first at the end of 2024 in Artemis, the lighthouse project of Audi. As of 2026, E³ 2.0 is due to be scaled by the Volkswagen brand with Trinity in the volume segment.

About our Group

CARIAD COE (Centre of Excellence) is setup in Bangalore, India working exclusively with CARIAD and associated VW groups with the focus on development of ‘VW.OS”. The areas of work involve development of platform components such as firmware, boot loaders, AUTOSAR, Linux/QNX BSP, Service oriented architecture-based middleware components.

Function Owner Support in Vehicle Key Management System (VKMS)

Responsibilities

Key Tasks

Our team is responsible for the secure and reliable management of cryptographic keys across the VW Group. The Function Owner Support role ensures that all aspects of the Vehicle Key Management System (VKMS) are coordinated, documented, and aligned with internal standards and stakeholder requirements.

• Manage and document change requests (CRs) using tools like Jira, DOORS, Codebeamer.
• Maintain and align QLAH content across brands and stakeholder domains.
• Participate in Change Control Boards (CCBs) and prepare delta documentation and confirmation sheets in line with VW Group standards.
• Translate functional requirements into structured specifications and test cases.
• Maintain test specifications across all levels (function, integration, blackbox).
• Coordinate with brands and ECU suppliers to ensure consistency and reuse.
• Track and triage defects, CRs, and feature deliveries with software suppliers.
• Align supplier deliveries with internal specifications and release documentation.
• Specify and review interfaces for production and customer service commissioning.
• Coordinate with backend system owners (e.g. FAZIT, System42) for integration.
• Define and maintain diagnostic specifications (DiDAS, DTCs, DDTs).
• Operate and improve key usage processes across brands and systems.
• Provide stakeholder support for function-related issues and deviations.
• Create and refine technical and procedural concepts (e.g. VKMS2 → VKMS3).
• Develop and maintain test concepts and specifications for all VKMS versions.
• Provide expert-level support for escalated incidents.
• Assist in long-term roadmap planning and strategic coordination.
• Contribute to the further development and evolution of VKMS within the VW Group, including new function variants, architectural transitions, and future security requirements.

Technical Skills:

• Proven experience in automotive security technologies, demonstrated through concrete project references.
• Deep understanding of cryptographic key lifecycle management (generation, distribution, storage, rotation, revocation).
• Familiarity with ISO/SAE 21434 and OEM-specific key management requirements.
• Experience with embedded ECUs and secure software workflows.
• Deep experience in software development (C & C++) for security technologies and ownership of secure software workflows.
• Ability to analyze and validate key management protocols and their implementation in vehicle networks.
• Proficiency in tools such as Jira, DOORS, Code beamer, KPM.
• Knowledge of diagnostic systems and standards (e.g. UDS, DiDAS, ODIS, ODX, Autosar).
• Experience with backend systems and toolchain integration (e.g. FAZIT, System42).

Competencies & Skills

• Profound knowledge of embedded security technologies, secure communication, and automotive standards.
• Experience with test management and requirements management platforms (e.g., CodeBeamer, DOORS, JIRA, KPM).
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting test data and deriving technical maturity grades.
• Effective communication and coordination with suppliers, test houses, and internal teams.
• Organizational skills for cross-brand process alignment and documentation management.
• Ability to handle confidential and security-relevant information appropriately.
• Familiarity with VW Group process standards and templates.
