About the Role
We are looking for a SeniorEmbedded SoftwareEngineer to jointhe Power Electronics discipline ofourResearch team, based in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, U.K.
The Senior rolemeans you will be responsible fordeveloping and validatingefficientembedded softwarein at least one field of power electronics such asmotor control, power conversion, battery management, etc.
You will be working within a team of multidisciplinary engineers taking new ideas to a prototype level prior to transfer to our development teams.
The role will involve:
Developingsoftware forpower electronic systems including motor drives, battery management systems, chargers, heater control systems and other power conversion architectures.
Creatingandvalidatingresource efficientembedded softwareon microcontrollers.
Responsible foran electronicssoftwareresearch project.
Researching emerging technologies through technical papers, patents, supplier engagement and collaboration with external partners.
Designing, simulating, building and testing demonstration rigs and prototype systems to assess the feasibility of new technologies and products.
MentoringDyson Institute students,graduateengineersandjuniorengineers.
Selecting and evaluatingcurrent and next-gen microcontrollersto optimise cost, size, efficiency and performance.
Creating clear technical reports and presenting design concepts, test results and recommendations to stakeholders.
Applying a creative, structured approach to develop and assess innovative technical concepts.
Working with cross-functional teams to plan projectactivitiesandtakeresponsibility for technical deliveryof embedded software.
Identifying technical risks, proposing mitigation strategies andsharing lessons learnt todrivecontinuous improvement.
About You
Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in an electronics industry or research environment.
Experience inat least once of the following fields:motor drives, inverters, SMPS, heater control, chargers,USBpower delivery,battery management systemsorpower transferis desirable.
Experience of C/C++ programming for embedded systems isessential.
Experience with ARM based microcontrollers and microprocessors.
Experience programming in assembly / machine code desirable.
Experience of MCU analogue data acquisition for sampling high-speed signals.
Experience of using MATLAB, Python or similar tools for simulation, data acquisition and analysis.
Experience of agile working using Atlassian toolsis desirable.
Experience creating verification and validation plans and executing structured testing activities.
Experiencein the use of laboratory equipment to set up experiments and make accurate electrical measurements.
Experience of safe working in a laboratory environment, testing and debugging software on mains voltageandhigh-speed machinesis desirable.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and within amultidisciplinary team.Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders from a wide range of technical disciplines.
