Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated currently seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Assistant Controller who would report to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bank reconciliations.
- Payroll process review.
- Trial Balance review and reconciliation.
- Liaise/supervise with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as necessary.
- Regulatory body reporting regarding consumption taxes, WCB, etc.
- Timely and accurate production of month-end and year-end entries, analysis, and reconciliation.
- Review and approval of payables and expense reports.
- As requested, evaluate existing internal controls, processes, and financial reporting methodologies, and determine any required corrective action.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and support to ensure compliance of internal accounting policies and procedures in accordance with business requirements, industry standards, and federal regulations.
- Participate in special projects such as financial systems upgrades, evaluation of new systems, or procedures.
- Active management, mentoring, or guidance to any assigned direct or indirect reports or teams on regular tasks or special projects.
- Various other ad hoc projects and analytics to support senior management.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other related discipline.
- CPA designation required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with general ledgers and financial reporting. Experience with Microsoft Navision and Jet
- Reports would be an asset. Advanced User in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, V-lookup, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and passion for accuracy.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills. Self-directed and organized with effective time management skills. Flexibility and ability to extend standard business hours as required to meet routine and unexpected deadlines.
