  • Analyze, design, and operate medium voltage electric distribution systems (equal to and greater than 13.8 kV), electric power generation, and industrial instrumentation and control systems.
  • Perform power systems modeling, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies using SKM Power*Tools for Windows (PTW).
  • Conduct load flow analysis and evaluate new building tie-in requests and load allocations for campus expansion projects.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 8+ years of direct experience in the analysis, design, and operation of electrical equipment/systems, including medium voltage electric distribution systems (≥ 13.8 kV), electric power generation, and industrial instrumentation and control systems.
  • SKM Power*Tools modeling experience for short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Ability to be physically present on campus at UMD at least five (5) days during each standard work week and available at all other times in the event of an Emergency.
  • Dedication solely to the NextGen Program (no Affiliate engineering responsibilities permitted).

  • 2+ years of protection relay design, operation, and programming experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with PLC operation and programming.
  • Strong desire to provide customer service and build long-term, successful working relationships with UMD personnel and stakeholders.
