The role:

We are looking for a HR Advisor at Leek, Hoogeveen, Oudenbosch sites to be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of HR policies and practices.

They will provide expert advice and support to managers and employees on a wide range of HR issues; including, absence management, employee relations, performance management and employment law to ensure entity compliance to country legislation. The HR Advisor plays a key role in driving cultural change to reflect the Hunter Douglas Purpose, Vision and Values and connects at a strategic level with Divisional/Functional HRBPs whilst also executing HR processes at the shop floor level.

The role-holder will be based primarily at the Leek/Hoogeveen sites with travel to Oudenbosch site every 2 weeks for 2/3 days including overnight stays. This is a full time role.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities:

- Provide expert employee relations advice to Site Leaders, line managers and team leaders on all aspects of employee relations

- Understand, display and encourage the Hunter Douglas Purpose, Vision and Values

- Support, engage and coach leaders in the cultural change programme to reflect the Hunter Douglas Purpose, Vision and Values.

- Develop proactive solutions to resolve people issues, share best practices, and drive consistency in handling employee relations.

- Handle complex ER cases effectively, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, policy, and procedure. Attending meetings where necessary, providing HR support and taking accurate notes.

- Support managers on performance management issues, coaching them on managing poor performance and applying disciplinary and grievance procedures.

- Ensure consistent best practices in absence management and help line managers reduce absence levels through proactive measures, including overall responsibility for the management of the specific Dutch illness management procedure.

- Partner with Divisional and Functional HR Business Partners to deliver strategic people initiatives and workforce planning activities.

- Support organisational health index survey process and action plans.

- Monitor and maintain organisational charts, ensuring accurate reflection of business structures.

- Support the implementation of HDMS, in particular, the People Pillar of HDMS 1.0.

- Keep up to date with employment law and advise the business on any changes.

- Coach managers on best practices in employee relations, disciplinary procedures, and handling complex cases. 

Person Specification:

- Demonstrable experience of advisory human resources.

- In-depth knowledge of employment law, HR legislation, and compliance (e.g., disciplinary, grievance, redundancy processes, GDPR, health and safety regulations) in the Netherlands.

- Strong understanding of HR policies and procedures, including their practical application and development.

- Expertise in managing complex employee relations (ER) cases, including conflict resolution, disciplinary, and grievance processes.

- Experience of developing and implementing people plans to manage cultural change.

 - Experience in mediation and handling sensitive employee disputes.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to advise and influence managers and employees at all levels.

- Experience with HR systems and software, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting is desirable.

- Ability to coach and mentor managers and peers in best HR practices.

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

- High attention to detail, particularly in legal compliance and documentation. 

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Teams. 

- Must be able to communicate (speaking and writing) in native Dutch language and also English.
