Senior Mobile Engineer

Overview 

Maplebear Inc. D/B/A Instacart in San Francisco, CA seeks Senior Mobile Engineer (Multiple Openings). Employee may be stationed anywhere in the continental United States but will report directly to Instacart headquarters in San Francisco, CA.  

About the Job

Responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing large scale Android and backend software systems. 

Duties include: 

• Developing and implementing high-performance mobile and distributed backend solutions
• Leading the end-to-end development lifecycle for applications by gathering requirements and conducting technical design
• Creating and maintaining robust pipelines to facilitate rapid and reliable software delivery
• Ensuring robust security, data privacy, and compliance with industry standards throughout the software development lifecycle
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver new features
• Other duties as assigned.  

About You

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or foreign equivalent).
• 5 years of experience in the job offered or related
• 2 years of experience in advanced Android development, including MVVM/MVI architecture and dependency injection frameworks such as Dagger or Hilt
• 2 years of experience in Kotlin, Java, and SQL, including work with asynchronous programming frameworks and thread safety in mobile and backend environments
• 2 years of experience with CI/CD automation, testing, and monitoring, using tools such as Buildkite, GitHub Actions, or related, for automated testing, release management, performance profiling, incident response, and analytics
• 2 years of experience working in Agile teams, with strong skills in Git version control, technical documentation, code review, refactoring, and debugging
• 2 years of experience working with Jira, Figma, or similar tools.
