Are you an experienced Accounting professional who enjoys working hands-on while leading a small team? Do you combine strong financial Accounting expertise with a structured approach and a clear, pragmatic leadership style?

As Team Lead Accounting (m/f/d), you will coordinate the daily operations of our Accounting team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day Accounting activities. You will ensure reliable workflows, support your team with technical questions, and make sure all Accounting tasks are completed accurately and on time.

Together with your team, you will ensure accurate postings and reliable monthly and annual closings while continuously improving our Accounting processes.

Team Leadership & Organization
  • Provide professional and disciplinary leadership to a small Accounting team
  • Organize, prioritize, and coordinate day-to-day Accounting operations
  • Clearly assign tasks, responsibilities, and deadlines
  • Support team members with technical questions and more complex Accounting cases
  • Conduct regular feedback discussions and support employees’ professional development
  • Ensure consistent working methods and Accounting standards
  • Organize reliable absence and holiday coverage within the team
  • Work closely with the Finance Director
Operational Financial Accounting
  • Work actively across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger Accounting
  • Review, account-assign, and post ongoing business transactions
  • Maintain, monitor, and reconcile customer, supplier, and general ledger accounts
  • Investigate invoice discrepancies and clarify open items
  • Prepare, review, and execute payment runs
  • Post and reconcile bank and cash transactions
  • Perform and review intercompany postings and reconciliations
  • Post and monitor provisions and accruals
  • Maintain and review Accounting-related master data
  • Communicate with suppliers, customers, and internal departments
Monthly & Annual Closings
  • Coordinate and actively contribute to monthly and annual closings according to German GAAP/HGB
  • Ensure all relevant closing activities are completed accurately and on time
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations and closing entries
  • Support the team in resolving open and more complex Accounting matters
  • Prepare relevant documentation for the Finance Director, tax advisors, and auditors
  • Ensure complete, transparent, and traceable closing documentation
VAT & Statutory Reporting
  • Prepare or review advance VAT returns
  • Support the preparation of Intrastat and One-Stop-Shop reports
  • Prepare relevant documentation for tax advisors and auditors
  • Support the handling of tax-related queries in coordination with the Finance Director
Process Quality & Development
  • Ensure clear and consistent workflows within Accounting
  • Identify operational sources of error and recurring issues
  • Create and maintain checklists, work instructions, and Accounting SOPs
  • Support the digitalization and automation of recurring processes
  • Improve collaboration between Accounting and internal departments
  • Ensure structured and transparent document management

Your skillset - as strong as our protein

  • Completed commercial vocational training with a focus on Accounting, an additional qualification as a certified accountant, or a comparable qualification
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in financial Accounting
  • Experience in the professional or disciplinary leadership of a small Accounting team
  • Strong practical knowledge of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger Accounting
  • Hands-on experience with monthly and annual closings according to German GAAP/HGB
  • Confident handling of account reconciliations, provisions, accruals, and closing entries
  • Experience with payment runs, open-item management, and intercompany postings
  • Confident use of ERP systems; SAP knowledge is an advantage
  • Very good Microsoft Excel skills
  • Very good German and English skills
