Accounting Clerk
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in accuracy and is confident working with EFT payments, bank reconciliations and financial transactions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process client EFT payments accurately and within required turnaround times.
- Verify payment instructions, beneficiary details and supporting documentation.
- Process and verify supplier payments in line with approved procedures.
- Perform daily bank, client and financial account reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies, unidentified transactions and reconciling items.
- Import daily bank statements and transactions into the accounting system.
- Identify and resolve duplicate, unmatched or incorrectly imported transactions.
- Maintain accurate payment records, reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation.
- Follow up on outstanding payment and reconciliation queries.
- Ensure all transactions comply with internal controls and approval procedures.
- Escalate unusual transactions, discrepancies or potential risks to management.
- Provide general accounting and finance administration support as required.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
Previous experience in an accounting or finance administration role.
Experience processing EFT payments and bank reconciliations will be highly advantageous.
Experience working with accounting software and online banking platforms.
Studying towards a Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field will be advantageous.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
