Take ownership of critical financial reporting, tax, treasury and compliance activities within a complex finance environment. This is an opportunity for a qualified CA(SA) to play a meaningful role in financial governance, reporting accuracy and business performance.
The Financial Accountant will coordinate and oversee monthly financial reporting, taxation compliance, treasury management, financial controls, budgeting and forecasting. The role combines technical accounting expertise with commercial analysis, stakeholder engagement and team leadership, with responsibility for ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will join a structured finance environment and work closely with senior finance leadership, commercial teams, auditors, revenue authorities and banking institutions. The position offers broad exposure across the finance function, including IFRS application, tax, treasury and financial planning.
What You'll Do
Coordinate and prepare monthly management accounts and group reporting packs.
Ensure timely completion of month-end financial processes.
Review and maintain balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
Review and approve journals, accruals, bank reconciliations, petty cash and staff expense claims.
Manage intercompany reconciliations and resolve variances.
Conduct financial analysis and support commercial teams with general ledger reporting.
Assess accounting treatment of transactions in accordance with IFRS requirements.
Prepare financial statements and support internal and external audit processes.
Prepare and submit VAT returns for South Africa and Namibia.
Complete import VAT submissions and employee tax filings.
Manage tax clearance certificates and letters of good standing.
Respond to SARS and NAMRA tax queries and ensure tax schedules are submitted accurately and on time.
Review and release EFT payment runs and administer online banking access and payment controls.
Monitor local and foreign payments and foreign exchange requirements.
Prepare cash flow forecasts and investigate significant variances.
Coordinate annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Compile monthly financial review reports and investigate deviations from targets.
Support financial planning and performance management activities.
Directly oversee one Reconciliation Controller and four Administrative Controllers.
Allocate, review and coordinate team activities while supporting employee development and performance.
What You Bring
CA(SA) qualification.
Completed articles, preferably with a Big Four audit firm.
Minimum 3 to 5 years' post-articles financial accounting experience.
Extensive experience in IFRS application and tax compliance.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting requirements and tax legislation.
Treasury and cash flow management knowledge.
SAP R/3 experience preferred.
Advanced taxation exposure advantageous.
Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills.
Strong financial reporting and analytical capability.
