Financial Controller

Job Description:

• Take ownership of the finance function and support the Financial Manager in driving business performance
• Prepare and present monthly financial results across multiple stores and the broader group
• Analyse store profitability, including sales, food costs, labour costs, and operating expenses
• Monitor key performance drivers and provide meaningful financial insights to management
• Ensure effective cash management, daily sales reconciliations, and working capital control
• Oversee SARS compliance, including VAT, PAYE, and Income Tax requirements
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure audit readiness across the business
• Develop and improve finance and operational SOPs
• Enhance financial and operational reporting processes
• Lead and support the finance team, including the Debtors & Creditors Manager, Payroll Manager, and Senior Accountant
• Collaborate with operational stakeholders to support profitability, growth, and decision-making

• Financial Management or Financial Controllership experience
• Strong commercial finance and operational finance background
• Experience leading and developing finance teams
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, controls, budgeting, and cash flow management
• Exposure to retail, FMCG, hospitality, franchised, or QSR environments - advantageous
• Strong understanding of SARS compliance and statutory requirements
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with accounting systems such as Pastel, Sage, Xero, or similar
• Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Comfortable operating in a hands-on, fast-paced, multi-site environment

• SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA, or AGA(SA)
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting OR Equivalent
• Completed SAICA Articles - advantageous
