Senior Accountant

Reporting to the Financial Manager, you’ll work across the full accounting cycle, with particular focus on stock, transactions, reconciliations and month-end. This is a role for someone who doesn’t just process what lands on their desk, they understand the accounting behind it, spot inconsistencies and know when to ask the right questions.

The business uses QuickBooks, and strong Excel skills will be important in managing the reporting and analysis required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and review general ledger transactions and accounting entries
• Prepare and post month-end journals
• Complete detailed balance sheet and ledger reconciliations
• Manage and reconcile stock movements and inventory transactions
• Investigate stock variances, discrepancies and reconciling items
• Assist with month-end close and ensure transactions are accurately reflected
• Prepare financial schedules and information for management review
• Assist with external audit requirements
• Maintain accurate accounting records on QuickBooks
• Provide accounting and financial analysis support to the Financial Manager

Job Experience & Skills Required

• BCom Accounting / Finance degree
• Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles
• 5+ years’ relevant accounting experience
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
• Solid exposure to stock / inventory accounting and transaction processing
• Manufacturing, engineering, OEM or power-generation experience would be advantageous
• Strong QuickBooks experience
• Good Excel skills
• Proven experience with reconciliations and month-end
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving ability
• Someone who investigates the “why” behind the numbers rather than simply processing them
• Comfortable working onsite in Lanseria
