This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Sales based in the United States.
This senior commercial leadership role will shape and execute sales strategy across multiple industrial and engineered-product markets. You will be responsible for profitable growth, customer development, channel effectiveness, forecasting, and overall commercial execution. The position combines strategic account leadership with hands-on ownership of sales processes, performance metrics, and revenue opportunities. You will work closely with product, engineering, operations, finance, marketing, and customer service teams to turn customer needs into actionable growth plans. The role offers significant influence over pricing, market expansion, product priorities, and long-term customer relationships. Accountabilities
- Develop and execute sales strategies and action plans designed to achieve orders, revenue, margin, market-share, and profitable-growth objectives.
- Lead strategic account planning for major customers, including segmentation, opportunity prioritization, stakeholder mapping, executive engagement, and account-specific action plans.
- Identify and pursue growth opportunities across core and adjacent markets, including OEM accounts, geographic expansion, aftermarket programs, major customer platforms, and new products.
- Evaluate distributor and sales representative performance, market coverage, commercial agreements, and incentive structures to strengthen accountability and market reach.
- Own the sales and orders forecasting process by customer, program, product, and market segment to support financial reporting, production planning, SIOP, and capacity decisions.
- Maintain rigorous CRM and business-system discipline, ensuring accurate pipeline, quotation, backlog, forecast, customer, and activity data.
- Develop and monitor commercial performance metrics, including orders, sales, backlog, pipeline conversion, forecast accuracy, win/loss performance, pricing, margins, and customer health.
- Partner with finance, product management, operations, and customer service to understand cost drivers, pricing performance, backlog exposure, and gross-margin impacts.
- Improve quote-to-order processes to increase speed, accuracy, consistency, and customer experience while maintaining commercial discipline.
- Support technology roadmaps, new product priorities, product planning, and new product introduction opportunities.
- Work with engineering and product management to translate customer requirements into commercial priorities, application strategies, pursuit plans, and compelling value propositions.
- Collaborate across marketing, customer service, operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain to resolve customer issues and strengthen strategic relationships.
- Hire, develop, motivate, and coach sales, customer service, and commercial professionals as assigned, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Establish standardized sales processes, best practices, operating rhythms, and accountability mechanisms that encourage data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, quarterly reporting, operating reviews, and broader commercial planning activities.
- Identify appropriate opportunities to use AI tools to improve sales productivity, decision-making, quality, and cost efficiency while critically evaluating AI-generated outputs.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related technical or commercial discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in B2B sales, sales management, business development, commercial leadership, or a related field.
- Background in industrial, electronics, controls, instrumentation, vehicle, OEM, engineered-product, or comparable technical markets.
- Proven success developing and executing sales strategies that deliver profitable growth, stronger customer penetration, and sustainable revenue performance.
- Experience leading direct sales teams and/or indirect sales channels, including distributors, manufacturer representatives, agents, or regional sales organizations.
- Strong technical-selling experience, including application-driven selling, value-based proposals, negotiation, pricing, and strategic customer relationship management.
- Demonstrated experience with forecasting, pipeline management, CRM discipline, account planning, sales KPIs, and financial reporting in a metrics-driven environment.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams, develop talent, establish expectations, and drive accountability without relying exclusively on formal authority.
- Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leaders, major OEM customers, technical stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, AI tools, and business reporting or analytics systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and negotiation skills, supported by high integrity and personal accountability.
- Experience with products or applications such as electronic controls, cameras, instrument clusters, displays, heavy-duty or commercial vehicles, industrial equipment, food-service equipment, or related OEM technologies is preferred.
- Experience with Oracle ERP, Salesforce or comparable CRM platforms, Power BI, and structured sales dashboards is advantageous.
- Demonstrated success improving forecast accuracy, quote-to-order processes, sales operations, customer segmentation, channel performance, and price realization.
- Experience supporting new product development, product management, NPI tracking, product roadmaps, Voice of Customer programs, or engineered/custom solutions is a plus.
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, SIOP, operations, supply chain, or similar methodologies is preferred.
- Strong technical curiosity and aptitude, with the ability to learn from engineers, customers, application specialists, and product teams and translate technical knowledge into commercial action.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to use AI responsibly to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and cost efficiency.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, with travel of up to 40% as business needs require.
