Frontend Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Frontend Engineer based in the United States.

As a Frontend Engineer, you will build core web experiences that make AI a natural part of everyday communication, productivity, and organization. You will own complex, highly interactive product surfaces across chat, notes, calendars, documents, and spreadsheets. The role spans frontend architecture, implementation, performance, accessibility, and real-time user experiences. You will work closely with product, design, backend, and AI engineering teams to turn ambitious concepts into reliable production experiences. Your work will directly shape how users communicate, write, plan, collaborate, and complete tasks with AI. This is an environment for engineers who enjoy high ownership, rapid execution, strong product judgment, and solving challenging frontend problems.

Accountabilities:

• Build major web experiences across Chat, Notes, Calendar, Docs, and Sheets, taking features from technical architecture through production implementation.
• Develop sophisticated and highly interactive interfaces, including real-time messaging, collaborative editing, rich-text editing, scheduling, tables, spreadsheets, and productivity workflows.
• Design and maintain reusable frontend architecture and component systems that provide consistency across multiple applications and product surfaces.
• Integrate streaming AI responses, proactive actions, and model-driven capabilities directly into user workflows so that AI feels native to the product rather than like a separate chatbot experience.
• Own frontend performance, responsiveness, reliability, and accessibility across browsers and devices, ensuring complex interactions remain fast and dependable.
• Collaborate closely with product and design teams to transform prototypes and concepts into polished, production-ready experiences while maintaining strong attention to interaction details.
• Work with backend and AI engineers to integrate APIs, real-time systems, streaming capabilities, and intelligent product functionality.
• Independently drive technical decisions and feature execution while contributing to a high-quality, fast-moving engineering culture.
• Help ensure the frontend architecture remains maintainable, scalable, and reusable as the product expands into new applications and AI-powered workflows.

Requirements:

• Strong professional experience building complex, production-grade web applications using React, TypeScript, and modern frontend technologies.
• Deep understanding of frontend architecture, state management, browser APIs, performance optimization, and scalable component design.
• Experience building highly interactive products such as chat applications, collaborative tools, productivity platforms, document editors, calendars, workspaces, or similar systems.
• Hands-on experience with real-time technologies such as WebSockets, streaming APIs, or collaborative interfaces.
• Strong product and UI judgment, with a keen eye for interaction quality, usability, responsiveness, and implementation details.
• Ability to independently own features from technical design and architecture through implementation, testing, and production delivery.
• Experience working with technologies such as Next.js, HTML, CSS, Node.js, REST APIs, and/or GraphQL.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, backend, and AI engineering teams while maintaining ownership of frontend outcomes.
• Comfortable working in a high-talent-density, hands-on environment where priorities can move quickly and engineers are expected to bring structure, judgment, and initiative.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to balance rapid execution with high standards for quality, reliability, and maintainability.
