This role offers the opportunity to design, develop, and evolve software solutions using Java within a complex, high-scale technology environment. You will contribute to challenging technical initiatives while ensuring solutions remain aligned with broader product architecture and ecosystem needs. The position combines software development, legacy system modernization, automated testing, monitoring, incident management, and performance optimization. Accountabilities:

• Develop scalable software solutions for complex problems using Java, ensuring implementations are aligned with product architecture and the broader technology ecosystem.
• Design and evolve applications while maintaining architectural integrity, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Perform corrective and evolutionary maintenance of legacy systems, identifying opportunities for modernization and continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain automated tests using practices such as unit testing, TDD, and BDD to ensure high standards of software quality.
• Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive technical feedback and promoting engineering best practices.
• Create, adjust, and monitor operational alerts and monitoring solutions to improve system observability and reliability.
• Take ownership of incidents and failures within the team's domain, using operational data to identify root causes and recommend stability improvements.
• Support the creation of post-mortems and contribute to initiatives that prevent recurring incidents.
• Make realistic delivery commitments and prioritize incremental value while maintaining technical quality.
• Proactively identify and resolve blockers, risks, and delivery delays before escalation becomes necessary.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams through clear, concise, and audience-appropriate technical communication.
• Support colleagues in overcoming technical challenges and completing team objectives.
• Take ownership of personal development and actively manage an individual development plan through continuous feedback and learning.
• Share technical knowledge and mentor developers at earlier career stages.

Requirements

• Solid, proven professional experience with Java development.
• Strong knowledge of designing, developing, consuming, and integrating REST APIs and microservices.
• Practical experience with event-driven architecture and system integration.
• Advanced debugging skills and the ability to analyze code performance and SQL query efficiency.
• Structured knowledge of Git and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Experience working with high-volume environments and applying security best practices in day-to-day development.
• Ability to work with broad direction and a high level of autonomy.
• Strong technical reasoning, communication, and ability to articulate and defend technical decisions.
• Strong alignment with agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
• Experience with Python and/or Node.js is a plus.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as New Relic and Grafana is a plus.
• Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka and integrations using Apigee is desirable.
• Experience with serverless architectures and continuous deployment tools, particularly Azure DevOps, is advantageous.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure environments such as AWS or Azure is desirable.
• Experience with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ownership, collaboration, and a proactive approach to technical challenges.
