This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sales Director, West based in the United States.
This role is responsible for driving new business growth across the West region, with a focus on California, Nevada, and New Mexico. You will develop strategic relationships with employee benefits brokers, consultants, employers, and other key stakeholders to expand market visibility and generate opportunities. The position combines regional sales strategy, consultative client engagement, relationship development, and business development. You will help organizations identify effective solutions for managing self-funded benefit programs and improving cost outcomes. Success will require a strong understanding of third-party administration and the healthcare benefits landscape, along with an established regional network. The role offers significant autonomy in a fully remote environment while requiring frequent travel to build and maintain relationships. You will also contribute to long-term growth by identifying opportunities to expand services and strengthen profitability.
Accountabilities:
- Achieve annual new business sales objectives by leveraging existing relationships and developing new connections with benefits consultants, insurance brokers, and prospective clients.
- Build awareness of available services throughout the assigned territory and generate qualified new business opportunities.
- Develop and execute regional sales strategies designed to acquire new business through broker relationships and sustained market engagement.
- Maintain consistent communication with brokers through meetings, personal visits, newsletters, and other channels to share updates on products, underwriting, and relevant industry developments.
- Provide consultative support to clients by understanding their business and benefits needs and aligning solutions to deliver meaningful value.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with brokers, consultants, clients, and other key stakeholders across the region.
- Identify emerging customer needs and potential new service offerings that can expand the business and improve profitability.
- Collaborate with internal partners to develop and execute sales strategies, coordinate resources, and support long-term business objectives.
- Monitor regional market activity and use customer and industry insights to identify opportunities for growth.
- Maintain accurate sales activity and pipeline information while supporting effective forecasting and business planning.
- 5+ years of experience selling within the health insurance, employee benefits, self-funded employer, third-party administrator, or related healthcare sales environment.
- Strong understanding of third-party benefits administration and the broader employee benefits ecosystem.
- Established relationships with employee benefits brokers and consultants in the West region, particularly California, Nevada, or New Mexico.
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Demonstrated success as a consultative sales professional focused on developing and maintaining long-term client relationships.
- Strong negotiation, influencing, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to understand customer needs and identify appropriate business solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Salesforce or comparable CRM platforms.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and comfortable managing a regional territory independently.
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a high level of integrity, professionalism, and work ethic.
- Ability to travel extensively and maintain an active presence across the assigned territory.
- Base salary range of $150,000-$180,000 USD.
- Potential eligibility for additional compensation, including bonuses, merit increases, and sales commissions based on the applicable compensation plan.
