This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Accounting, and Technology, serving as the functional bridge between business users and technical teams. You will own the analysis, requirements, testing, and continuous improvement of financial systems, with a strong focus on NetSuite. The position combines hands-on systems expertise with process optimization, reporting, user enablement, and project delivery. You will identify opportunities to automate manual finance workflows and increasingly apply AI to improve efficiency and accuracy. Accountabilities:
- Financial systems analysis: Serve as the functional expert for financial processes within NetSuite, including record-to-report, procure-to-pay, revenue recognition, inventory, and cost accounting. Gather, challenge, and translate Finance and Accounting requirements into clear functional specifications and testable acceptance criteria.
- Process improvement and automation: Document current-state finance processes, identify opportunities to eliminate manual work, and implement improvements that accelerate close activities, strengthen controls, and improve operational efficiency.
- AI and intelligent automation: Identify and deliver AI-driven improvements across financial workflows, including document capture and coding, anomaly detection, reconciliation assistance, and close acceleration. Evaluate native AI capabilities within financial platforms and determine where they can deliver measurable business value.
- AI-enabled productivity: Incorporate AI into daily analysis, documentation, specification drafting, saved-search development, test-case generation, troubleshooting, and other systems activities while validating outputs carefully, particularly when working with financial data.
- AI governance: Partner with Technology leadership to establish appropriate safeguards around AI usage with financial information, including accuracy validation, audit traceability, data handling, and responsible adoption.
- Delivery coordination: Manage and prioritize financial systems requests in collaboration with Technology leadership, managed service providers, implementation partners, and internal developers. Coordinate interfaces between NetSuite, external platforms, and custom systems while ensuring work is delivered to agreed standards and timelines.
- NetSuite administration and reporting: Perform configuration activities, maintain saved searches, reports, dashboards, custom fields and forms, and other appropriate system enhancements. Build SuiteAnalytics workbooks and self-service reporting capabilities that provide Finance and leadership with reliable business insights.
- Testing and releases: Own user acceptance testing by creating test plans, coordinating business testing, validating outcomes, and approving changes before production deployment. Assess semiannual NetSuite releases for business impact and coordinate regression testing with Finance and Accounting.
- User support and enablement: Act as a primary point of contact for financial systems users, triaging issues, resolving problems where possible, and escalating more complex matters. Create and maintain SOPs, process documentation, and training materials while delivering onboarding and refresher sessions.
- Data and integrations: Monitor integrations between NetSuite and ecommerce/subscription platforms, payment processors, 3PL and warehouse systems, banks, tax engines, and data warehouses. Identify failures early, coordinate resolution, and support bulk imports, mass updates, data cleanups, and reconciliation activities.
- Controls and audit support: Support internal and external audits, IT general controls, application control testing, evidence gathering, and related compliance activities.
- Projects and roadmap: Represent Technology on financial systems initiatives, including module rollouts, new brand or subsidiary onboarding, chart of accounts changes, application evaluations, and other strategic improvements. Contribute to the longer-term financial systems roadmap while balancing immediate priorities with sustainable structural improvements.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in financial systems, ERP analysis, systems accounting, or a closely related role, with 10+ years strongly preferred.
- NetSuite expertise: Expert-level NetSuite knowledge is required, including deep functional understanding of financial modules and hands-on experience with saved searches, reports, dashboards, custom records and fields, SuiteFlow, and SuiteAnalytics. NetSuite certification is a plus.
- Accounting knowledge: Strong understanding of general ledger and chart of accounts, accounts payable and receivable, subledgers, accruals, allocations, month-end and year-end close, and deferred revenue.
- Financial controls: Familiarity with financial controls, audit support, ITGCs, application controls, and segregation of duties.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Additional ERP expertise: Experience with other ERP and financial systems such as Sage Intacct, SAP, Oracle Fusion, Workday Financials, or Microsoft Dynamics is highly desirable. Familiarity with adjacent tools such as Coupa, BILL, Avalara, Vertex, Ramp, Brex, Expensify, FloQast, or BlackLine is beneficial.
- Integrations and data: Familiarity with iPaaS and integration platforms such as Celigo, Boomi, Workato, or custom REST integrations, with the ability to reason about data flows across multiple systems.
- Analytics: SQL and advanced spreadsheet skills for analysis, reconciliation, validation, and financial data investigation.
- Partner management: Experience working with external implementation or managed services partners and managing their deliverables, scope, quality, and timelines.
- Industry experience: Experience in ecommerce, direct-to-consumer, subscription billing, or consumer products is a strong advantage.
- AI fluency: A proactive approach to using AI for analysis, documentation, automation, troubleshooting, and problem solving, combined with the judgment to validate AI-generated outputs before relying on them for financial decisions.
- Communication and collaboration: Able to bridge Finance and Technology effectively, translate accounting requirements into technical specifications, explain technical constraints in accessible language, and work successfully with stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
- Problem solving: Persistent and methodical troubleshooting mindset, with a focus on identifying root causes rather than allowing temporary workarounds to become permanent solutions.
- Practical mindset: Preference for simple, maintainable solutions, with sound judgment around when to configure, script, or integrate systems. Comfortable working calmly around critical financial close periods and documenting processes thoroughly.
