Senior Full Stack Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to build and evolve high-impact software within a large-scale digital advertising platform. You will work across modern full-stack technologies while solving complex engineering challenges involving large datasets, scalable systems, and high-performance web applications. Depending on your experience and interests, you may contribute to areas including billing, AI-powered experiences, analytics, workflow automation, creative technology, developer experience, audience infrastructure, or developer ecosystems. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and engineering teams to deliver meaningful customer outcomes. The position combines hands-on individual contribution with technical leadership, mentoring, architectural guidance, and a strong focus on engineering excellence. It is well suited to a senior engineer who enjoys simplifying complex systems, improving developer experiences, and building scalable products in a collaborative environment.

Accountabilities:

• Provide pragmatic technical guidance that helps teams solve complex problems while promoting engineering excellence and a positive developer experience.
• Develop clear, iterative, and actionable technical plans that support effective delivery across the product development lifecycle.
• Architect scalable web APIs, component libraries, backend systems, and other technical foundations aligned with long-term roadmap objectives.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Data Science, Product, Design, and Engineering to identify and resolve technical challenges with cross-functional impact.
• Contribute significantly as an individual contributor to critical engineering projects that deliver measurable value to customers.
• Advise teams on technical debt and modernization strategies, balancing long-term engineering quality with current business priorities.
• Identify system bottlenecks, performance constraints, and other technical issues and develop practical solutions to address them.
• Lead or contribute to large-scale modernization initiatives involving legacy systems and technologies.
• Conduct rigorous code reviews and technical specification reviews to maintain high standards for software quality and architecture.
• Mentor engineers and lead by example in applying software development best practices.
• Build and improve performant end-to-end product experiences across frontend and backend systems.
• Depending on team placement, contribute to areas such as billing infrastructure, AI-powered advertising experiences, analytics and insights, customer journey orchestration, creative management, developer tooling, audience data, APIs, or developer ecosystems.
• Work collaboratively across teams to develop reliable systems and improve how software is designed, tested, deployed, and maintained.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional experience building highly performant web applications with strong user experiences.
• Strong full-stack engineering background, with frontend and/or backend depth and the ability to work across the broader application stack.
• Experience with technologies such as React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Ruby on Rails, and Go is highly preferred.
• Strong experience using test-driven development practices with one or more core full-stack technologies or comparable frameworks.
• Experience collaborating closely with Product and Design teams to design, implement, and iterate on high-impact end-to-end product experiences.
• Experience working with relational databases and key-value data stores.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze, benchmark, and optimize web application performance across the full technology stack.
• Experience leading large-scale modernization initiatives, including the transformation of legacy systems from planning through implementation.
• Strong architectural thinking and the ability to design scalable APIs, backend systems, and reusable frontend components.
• Ability to break down complex technical problems and simplify systems, processes, and solutions wherever possible.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance across teams.
• Comfortable mentoring engineers, conducting technical reviews, and influencing engineering practices without relying solely on formal authority.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and flexible engineering environment.
