The Role

As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients - which means some of the biggest in the world.

There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain Datacom and DB2 environments on z/OS.
• Perform database performance monitoring, tuning, capacity planning, and problem resolution.
• Support database upgrades, migrations, patching, and disaster recovery activities.
• Manage security, backup/recovery processes, and compliance requirements.
• Automate operational procedures using JCL, REXX, and related system tools.
• Troubleshoot complex database and system issues, ensuring minimal business impact.
• Collaborate with application development, storage, and z/OS system programming teams.
• Participate in 24x7 support and critical incident management as required.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 7+ years of experience as a Mainframe Datacom/DB2 System Programmer.
• Strong expertise in CA Datacom administration, installation, maintenance, and performance tuning on IBM z/OS.
• Experience with IBM DB2 for z/OS system programming, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with DB2 Connect and IBM Data Studio.
• Strong understanding of backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft/DB2 architecture and database integration.
• Strong understanding of z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and database utilities.
• Experience in database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and problem determination.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Experience with DB2 Data Sharing, Parallel Sysplex, and High Availability configurations.
• Experience with database automation and scripting using REXX, CLIST, or JCL.
• Knowledge of RACF, security implementation, and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON, CA SYSVIEW, or equivalent.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• IBM Db2 for z/OS, Broadcom Datacom, or other relevant mainframe certifications.
