Junior Engineer (Product Configuration Management)

Our client BAE Systems, a leading organisation within the defence and security sector, is seeking a Junior Engineer to support its Naval Ships business unit. This 12-month contract role is based in Portsmouth or Glasgow and follows a hybrid working pattern, with three days on site each week from Tuesday to Thursday.

Please note you will need to hold indefinite leave to remain in the UK before application.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting product configuration management activities across naval ship engineering programmes
• Maintaining accurate product data, configuration records and engineering documentation
• Managing updates to product information and ensuring changes are correctly recorded and controlled
• Using Excel and digital systems to organise, analyse and maintain configuration data
• Working with engineering and project teams to support effective product data management
• Contributing to the consistent application of configuration management processes and procedures
• Identifying data discrepancies and supporting their resolution in a timely manner

Job Requirements:

• Strong data management and administration skills
• Strong Excel competency and confidence using digital technology
• Windchill experience would be desirable, although comprehensive technical systems knowledge is not essential
• Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to managing information
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and maintain accurate records
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering teams
