SDE 4 - Backend

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer (SDE-4) to architect and build our Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) product from 0 to 1 You will own the core technical architecture across inline DAM for real-time monitoring and enforcement, network proxy/sidecar-based DAM, eBPF-based database activity monitoring, database protocol inspection and query telemetry, and real-time policy enforcement and threat detection. This is a high-ownership role where you will make foundational architecture decisions, build the first production systems, and help define the engineering direction of the DAM platform.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and build a production-grade DAM platform from scratch.
• Build high-performance inline proxies for database traffic inspection and enforcement.
• Design network sidecars and transparent traffic interception mechanisms.
• Build eBPF-based visibility across processes, sockets, and network activity.
• Parse and analyze database protocols such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, SQL Server, and others.
• Correlate queries with users, workloads, services, and application identities.
• Design for extremely low latency, high throughput, fault tolerance, and graceful degradation.
• Build for Kubernetes, cloud, hybrid, and enterprise environments.
• Own architecture reviews, performance benchmarks, and engineering standards.
• Mentor engineers and work directly with founders, product, and security research teams.

Requirements:

• 7-11 years of strong software engineering experience.
• Deep understanding of Linux internals, networking, processes, sockets, and TCP/IP.
• Strong experience with Go, C++, Rust, C, or similar systems programming languages.
• Experience building high-performance distributed or networked systems.
• Strong understanding of concurrency, performance optimization, and production debugging.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to independently take ambiguous technical problems from architecture to production.
