Lead Engineer

Description

You'll report to the VP Engineering and work directly with the founders on the technical initiatives that shape where the product goes.

This is a hands-on role. You'll take ownership of complex, cross-cutting problems that span infrastructure, architecture, data, and product - the kind of problems that don't sit neatly inside one team.

Responsibilities and Impact

• You'll own complex backend and infrastructure problems and build the systems that solve them hands-on, end to end, from architecture through production.
• You will engage in the creation and automation of complex user workflows using the latest generative AI technologies, significantly streamlining operations and enhancing user experiences.
• As a key member of our team, you'll also work with a wide range of systems, processes, and technologies to own and solve technical and product problems, end to end.
• You'll be responsible for everything from architecture, development, deployment and testing of complex event driven systems, and backend services.
• You'll lead deep technical explorations - running POCs and evaluating new technologies, frameworks, and data solutions - and drive initiatives that improve scalability, performance, reliability, and developer velocity across the engineering org.
• Respond quickly to production and customer issues - find the gaps and ship fixes fast. You'll work closely with the onboarding and CSM teams, often in direct sync rather than through a manager's prioritization, and directly with customers when needed. (~10-20% of the role.)

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building and owning complex backend or distributed systems in production environments.
• Proven experience in senior technical roles such as Senior Engineer, Tech Lead, Principal Engineer, etc
• Strong background on DBs architecture, SQL, and data/event pipelines.
• Experience with the full life cycle of software development in production, from design, implementation to testing and deployment
• Connects technical decisions to business and customer impact - not a pure technologist
• High standards for code quality and a constructive attitude to help others raise the bar.
• A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset - comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and defining problems as much as solving them.
• Understands that customer-facing work is part of the role: fixing issues, hotfixes, and working with CSM, onboarding, and customer teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using generative AI to automate real workflows in production, not just prototypes.
• Experience development SaaS microservices in a cloud based environment.
• Experience with Python
• Experience with AWS
• Experience with event/streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• Experience with Docker and K8s
• Prior knowledge in fintech technology space
