NTT DATA is looking for high-achieving team players that are quickly adaptable to new challenges and entrepreneurial ventures. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer specialized in TypeScript and AWS Lambda who is passionate about building scalable, secure, and high-performance serverless applications. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role: most of the work is designing, writing, testing, deploying, and operating production code, working 100% onsite in LATAM with our global client working EST hours.  

Rate Range: $17-23/hr

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.

• Build production-ready serverless applications using AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway.

• Develop event-driven workflows using Amazon EventBridge, SQS, SNS, and AWS Step Functions.

• Apply appropriate retry, idempotency, error-handling, and asynchronous messaging patterns.

• Implement integrations between customer-facing channels, internal platforms, and third-party systems through REST APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous messaging.

• Participate in technical design discussions and translate architectural designs into scalable, production-ready code.Write unit, integration, and contract tests using Jest, Vitest, or similar testing frameworks.

• Participate in code reviews and uphold clean-code, strict-typing, and maintainability standards.

• Define infrastructure alongside application code using AWS CDK or equivalent Infrastructure as Code tools.

• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines.

• Apply secure coding and AWS security practices, including least-privilege IAM roles, input validation, secrets management, and OAuth 2.0/OIDC authentication.

• Implement structured logging, monitoring, metrics, and distributed tracing.

• Troubleshoot production incidents and optimize AWS Lambda performance and cost.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, QA Engineers, DevOps Engineers, architects, and business stakeholders.

• Mentor developers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.

• Own features throughout the full lifecycle, from development and deployment through production support

Required Qualifications:

Professional Experience

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• At least 3 years of experience building production services on AWS.
• Proven hands-on experience delivering serverless applications in production.
• Experience supporting production environments and troubleshooting distributed, event-driven systems.
• Experience working within cross-functional Agile/Scrum teams.

TypeScript and Node.js

• Advanced TypeScript skills, including:
  • Strict typing
  • Generics
  • Type-safe API contracts
• Strong Node.js experience, including:
  • Asynchronous programming
  • Performance optimization
  • Packaging applications for AWS Lambda
• Experience using the AWS SDK for JavaScript v3.
• Familiarity with Powertools for AWS Lambda using TypeScript, or a similar framework.

AWS and Serverless Development

• Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, including:
  • Handler design
  • Cold starts
  • Concurrency
  • Lamba layers
  • Bundling with esbuild
• Experience with Amazon API Gateway, including REST and HTTP APIs, authorizers, and throttling.
• Experience with Amazon EventBridge, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, and AWS Step Functions.
• Strong understanding of serverless and event-driven architecture patterns.

APIs and Microservices

• Experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Experience creating and working with OpenAPI specifications.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture. 
• Experience with webhooks and synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns.

Databases

• Experience with Amazon DynamoDB, including single-table and access-pattern-driven design.
• Experience with relational databases such as:
• PostgreSQL
• Amazon Aurora
• Microsoft SQL Server

Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD

• Experience with at least one of the following Infrastructure as Code tools:
• AWS CDK using TypeScript, preferred
• AWS SAM
• AWS CloudFormation
• Terraform
• Experience building or supporting CI/CD pipelines using tools such as:
• GitHub Actions
• GitLab CI
• Jenkins
• AWS CodePipeline
• Experience with Git-based development workflows. 

Testing and Quality

• Experience using Jest or Vitest for unit and integration testing.
• Experience mocking AWS services and using local testing approaches.
• Experience writing unit, integration, and contract tests.
• Understanding of clean-code, code-review, typing, and maintainability standards. 

Security

• Experience creating IAM roles and least-privilege policies.
• Experience with Amazon Cognito or an equivalent identity solution.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT.
• Experience with AWS Secrets Manager or AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and input validation. 

Monitoring and Observability

• Experience with Amazon CloudWatch, including logs, metrics, and alarms.
• Experience with AWS X-Ray.
• Experience with at least one of the following:
• Grafana
• Prometheus
• Kibana
