Job Description:

The Accounting Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the accounting department ensuring accurate financial reporting compliance with regulations and efficient processes. This role involves managing month-end close and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting & Compliance:
• Oversee the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS tax regulations and company policies.
• Coordinate audits (internal/external) and liaise with auditors.
• Work with departments (e.g. HR Operations) to align financial strategies.
• Month-End & Year-End Close:
• Lead the month-end closing process including reconciliations (bank GL etc.).
• Review journal entries accruals and adjustments for accuracy.
• Assist in annual budget preparation and variance analysis.
• Process Improvement:
• Identify inefficiencies and implement best practices in accounting processes.
• Ensure robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Payroll & Treasury Oversight:
• Supervise payroll processing and ensure timely tax filings.
• Monitor cash flow accounts payable/receivable and vendor payments.
• Supervision & Leadership:
• Manage and mentor Kenya accounting staff.
• Assign tasks review work and ensure adherence to deadlines.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide training.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (CPA/CMA preferred).
• 5 years in accounting/finance with 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g. QuickBooks SAP Oracle) advanced Excel and financial reporting.
• Strong leadership analytical thinking and communication.
• CPA CMA or MBA (a plus).
• Excellent English is a must.
